Intro and strategy
Hello to everyone, Ex insto trader who has traded full time since 2018. I have very basic python skills and looking for help to automate my strategies. Currently manually working on MGTN dispersion strategy via long/short equity or options, market neutral. This will be my focus in 2026. Any help with developing code to automate this via IB would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like an interesting project! I do not have any experience in that type of strategy, what does MGTN mean? Never interacted with IB, but did quite a few projects in python. I would like to help to develop the code if you like. However, I'm still doing my study and other projects, so I'll be able to help, but it will not be my main focus. Let me know!
What are y'all working on? Here's my strategy:
I am developing a simple strategy that boils down to: When markets are good be in TQQQ, when markets are bad be in cash ( money market ) It's based on technical indicators. When price crosses over 10ema, 20ema, and 50sma buy signal, when it 10 crosses below 20 sell signal. I'm working on deploying it to aws, i've got data from alphavantage and the only thing left to do it execute orders via api. What are your strategies?

@Zach Hatz Cool! lmk if you want to do something together. I'm currently also watching gabagool22's account on Polymarket: https://polymarket.com/@gabagool22. It is actually insane what he does, he makes roughly 10k per day risk-free with a very small capital. And absolutely no one comes close to this performance. So if you would like a cool project to start, I guess this is kinda interesting to research.

@Fallout Nuclear cool! How do you combine these strategies? Or are they all uncorrected enough to not worry about that? And in that case, how do you determine what strategies to assign what capital? I assume it is unwise to simply assign all of the capital to the best preforming strategy because it will decrease the Sharpe ratio.
What time do you want to study?
Figure we should all get together for maybe a once weekly group study call where we can share what we are learning and maybe build a project together. What time works best for you?

I can't do any at the moment, plus I'm in UTC+2 timezone. But after the holidays I can probably find something that works
