There is a lot of pain and turmoil in the world. I breathe it in, hold it a moment, then breathe it out again. I cry if I need to, though most of the time, I cry when I see people being kind to each other, just because they are kind. I then deliberately focus my attention on what I can do, what I can add to the goodness in the world. Sometimes it is an appreciation of what is, sometimes it is a class I teach. It can be many things, but it is what I can do in the now.
