Very cool! I see you at the bottom there, dates that are in August. I’m not sure what that’s about.
Hey everyone, glad to be here!
Recently joined the group to learn how to better manage my focus, build consistent daily habits, and turn ADHD into a strength rather than an obstacle. Excited to learn alongside all of you!

How is it going so far? Possible topic questions… no pop quiz will be administered What is your favorite ADHD quirk? Lol! Which quirk do you think is the most unusual that you think others might not have? How happy do you get when you find others “out in the wild” who have ADHD and similar quirks?? Yes. Just in case you’re having trouble getting started, I thought I’d throw this out there for you to loosen up because it doesn’t have to be a big serious thing. Maybe we all learn more if there’s laughter involved!

@Tony Iverson aI definitely get it! That’s a basic for being in the ADHD club! And here is the question, at least the first one, that a non-ADHD person would ever think of: what is going on in the brain that would cause us to do these things? lol Have a great day!
Getting out the door—and closing the circle
I wrote the first part of this while the panic was actually happening, to help myself settle and sort my thoughts. I had a 1 p.m. appointment at the bank to open an account. At 12:35, I started getting ready. Got my clothes. Got my shoes. No glasses. No backup glasses… when was the last time I saw those? I don’t always put my glasses on when I get up, and sometimes hours pass before I realize I’m not wearing them. Panic set in. I raced through the bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen. I turned the recliner over to see whether they were underneath. While hunting for the glasses, I realized I didn’t have my driver’s license either. How in the heck can I open a bank account without it? I’d been shuffling papers around during the week. Two days earlier, I had noticed that my license wasn’t back in my wallet. Did I retrieve it then? No. It was a sort of pseudo-registration in my brain. Me: “Driver’s license not in wallet.” Brain: “So noted. Carry on.” The information registered, but it never became an action. Now I really needed it to get the new bank anccount. The panic escalated. Fortunately, I was able to reschedule the appointment. Then I noticed something fascinating: I immediately wanted to play Sudoku blocks on MindPal to blank out the feelings. Instead, I stopped to settle myself. Racing around on a fruitless search was only making me more frantic. My goal was to interrupt that familiar pattern. I intentionally stopped and engaged in a breathing practice. I breathed in for four counts, held for seven, and breathed out for eight, repeating several times. This pattern is known as 478. Once I settled, my search became more calm and systematic. Within five minutes, I found both my glasses and my driver’s license. I felt exasperated and frustrated, but I wasn’t calling myself names. I was trying to understand what had happened. I still don’t understand how to get myself arranged well ahead of time before leaving. Like, when exactly does preparation start when I’m busy doing other stuff? How does that work?

@Mj Funaro I am sure you felt a lot of panic and anxiety with that happening. One thing, though now you can see what can happen, so maybe you can safeguard a little better and not get hung up on the fact that it happened. Please don’t beat yourself up about it. It’s that sort of thing I get afraid of if I travel, so I haven’t traveled for a long time. And the last time I did it was a complete disaster. I can’t think of a more disastrous trip I was going to fly from Oklahoma City to Maryland to Baltimore and to be at the ceremony for entering my dad’s and stepmom’s ashes and some military burial place. I never made it to the ceremony. I was exhausted from the beginning. My intestines were very unstable. I thought I had made a reservation for a rental car, but when I got there they said no, there’s no reservation and then charged me like $2500 for a car for what, three days or something, four days. I was exhausted and slept late at the motel after finding it like 1130 at night. Navigating to the location was nearly impossible because the way the roads lay out there is I didn’t find it accommodating at all. I missed turns and I don’t think I had the maps function yet. on my phone. So after missing the ceremony, I had planned to spend a day or two with my friend in Dover, and I was able to make it up there, but then it was time to drive back to Baltimore. I finally made it to the airport and usually there’s a pretty direct place to park the rental cars, but somehow it was closed and I couldn’t get the car over to where it was, so I parked on the street. I locked it and everything and then walked inside to where the office was to pay and then I started going on about the car was I don’t know abandoned or not that I stole it, but so crazy thing it was and then I wound up being up the entire night. I don’t know if I missed a flight then or not, but they had to settle about the car. I don’t remember if I walked them to the car. I don’t think so, but I told them exactly where it was. And thus I don’t ever let it travel much. Not not like that anyway. So yeah, I understand it. Yeah, it’s crazy. It’s really a pain .

@Mj Funaro Thank you 😊
Astros?
Can someone give me the direct link or directions on how to get to that astrology thing that Jim talked about? I have watched astrology reports for the last six months or so. Uncannily, I experience what the astrologists describe. Today, the 10-10-10 portal is a day of completion. It is enhanced by the new moon. So if someone can help me out and tell me where that link is or share that link, I would be really awesome. And I would appreciate it. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1CCzMbH5H4/?mibextid=wwXIfr https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1MS1EaNEJ3/?mibextid=wwXIfr

@Lynn Berry Did you take a screenshot of it exactly? I still don’t see anything, and I so want to! Thanks in advance. 🩵🩵🩵
Another step on the journey
I have been exploring for the past year the possibility that I have had ADHD, and that has included quite a bit of research, reading, webinars and such. About a month ago I took what was for me a brave step of approaching my mom about my thoughts on this. My mom loves me (and I, her) but we had gotten to where we have a mostly superficial relationship. I stopped sharing much personal or "deep feeling" stuff with her a long time ago, after decades of feeling like she didn't really "get me" anyway and we were too different of people. (Plus she has the habit of turning every conversation back to herself, which makes it hard for a reflective introvert like to have time to put my feelings and words together before the moment is gone.) But as I said, I approached her about a month ago to open the door on this topic. She knows little about it and I shared some reasons why I thought it applied to me and about late in life diagnosed women, etc. Skip ahead to this week, and I was watching some videos for women with ADHD or AuDHD or who are parenting girls with those traits. I carefully selected 3 videos that I thought were good introductions to my situation (late diagnosis, RSD, general info) and sent her the links and asked her to watch them if she had time. Yesterday I got a text back that said, "Thank you for sending the link to the videos on ADHD. I watched all three yesterday and took notes. I do believe you are correct in your assessment of yourself. If only we could have been enlightened many years ago. Can we talk about it when we have some time together to do so? ❤️" I cried right there in the car reading that. It was like I suddenly I had someone who had watched me my whole life who confirmed or validated what I had been thinking and that there was maybe hope to move forward with her having a greater understanding of me after a lifetime of feeling misunderstood or just unknown. I know it's not as easy as all that, but I was so encouraged by this step and that I can use this framework to explain certain things about me to her now.

What a wonderful win that is!! congratulations to you and your mom! Yes, finding out is so eye-opening and life-changing because your brain has to like reconfigure everything and your self has to recalibrate and redefine everything under this new heading and figure what it means. And the great part is to find out it’s a real thing and that there’s millions of other people who experience the joys and pleasures of it just like you. I always love finding other ADHD people out in the wild, so to speak. They are always so identifiable because suddenly you both just sync with each other. There is laughter where before it would be somebody staring at you waiting for you to find the thing in your purse that you thought you had in there… now, it’s a big mutual “I get it” with recognition and affirmation with each other. You no longer standing out side lost and alone like before, except for the places where your brain hasn’t quite gotten the new picture yet. Yay us!!
