I heard recently that angels carry swords because sometimes violence is the only effective response. It is important to note an angel’s sword is not a common weapon. Battlefields take many forms. A good, consistent companion can dismantle strongholds of isolation. There must be power enough to protect, but force should not be returned when the defense is successful. There will need to be separate spaces at first, but let there be an endeavor of reconciliation. Jesus said, “So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24 Reconciliation is more important than sacrifice. It is not always resolution. Those can be at different speeds. The unresolved can agree to peace to aim at shared goals.
