Hello !! This is a rough draft poem i wrote about the emotional roller coaster of co dependency! I dont yet have a name however i would like to share ❤️ built my heart around your pain, Mistook your storms for my own rain. I learned to bend, I learned to stay, Even when I faded away. I called it love, this constant need, This desperate act of planting seed In soil that never let me grow, Afraid that leaving meant letting go. Your happiness became my task, My every breath behind your mask. If you were lost, I lost me too, My sense of self erased in you. I held us up with trembling hands, Ignoring cracks, ignoring sands. I told myself this weight was proof That love meant holding up the roof. But love is not a silent plea, Nor shrinking into “you and me.” It isn’t fear dressed up as care, Or staying just because you’re there. So now I pause, I gently see The cost of losing parts of me. I loosen knots I swore were fate, And face the grief I couldn’t state. I still feel warmth, I still feel ache, But now I choose myself to take. This isn’t loss, though it feels new— It’s me unlearning how to lose me to you.
