Tonight opens with three questions and I write down every answer: what did you come here to get, how do you want to grow as a creative in the next 90 days, and what is the one thing you would pay for if I built it right. Regulars first, first-timers second, DJs welcome. Your answers are the curriculum for October. Then I show you what this room is, what is on kosine.co right now, and what is coming: Gourmet Ratchet merch, beat packs from twenty years of the vault, a self-paced course, the book in February. You vote. The one you would buy first ships first. Then we produce like a DJ. A DJ never plays one song; a DJ thinks in pairs. Four questions I ask about every record I make, and the first one is the most important: what is the BPM? Then: what would I blend it with that already exists, what makes this song special, and what is the intro? Live demo on the record I cut from my kitchen table last week, then a DJ in the room picks a song and we do it again. Homework goes up after class: one song, four answers, a thirty-second blend for next Tuesday. October is production month. 5 PM. Be there before I start. The intern never graduates.
