How to read a Publication Notice (and what TMOG actually means)
This is one of those documents that looks simple… but people still get tripped up on it. In this walkthrough, I break down:→ What a Publication Notice actually tells you→ What TMOG is (and why it matters)→ What happens next in the process→ What you should (and shouldn’t) be doing at this stage ⏱️ It’s about 5 minutes—but it’ll save you a lot more time than that in confusion later. After you watch, tell me:Did you know what TMOG was before this?

What does an IP paralegal actually DO? 👀
Let’s clear this up because there’s a lot of confusion around it… An IP paralegal isn’t just doing “admin work.”We’re handling the behind-the-scenes work that keeps legal rights protected and cases moving forward. Here’s what that actually looks like: - Preparing and filing trademark and patent applications - Tracking deadlines (this is HUGE—missing one can cost a client their rights) - Reviewing USPTO correspondence and figuring out next steps - Drafting client reporting emails so they understand what’s going on - Assisting with responses to Office Actions - Managing docketing systems (basically the brain of a law firm’s IP practice) And depending on the firm or role, it can go even deeper into: - Patent filings (provisionals, non-provisionals, PCTs) - Trademark maintenance filings - Client communication and strategy support 👉 The big takeaway: This role is a mix of legal knowledge + organization + attention to detail + problem-solving. It’s also a skillset that can absolutely turn into a career (or even your own business 👀) If you’re new to this: What part of this surprised you the most?

Welcome—this is where IP starts to make sense 👇
If you’ve ever looked at trademarks or patents and thought,“this feels confusing… but also kind of interesting,”you’re in the right place. This community is built for: - Beginners who want to learn IP from the ground up - Paralegals who want to build real, practical skills - Anyone curious about how this work actually turns into a career I run a virtual IP paralegal service, and one thing I’ve learned is this:👉 Most people don’t struggle because they can’t do the work👉 They struggle because nobody ever shows them how it actually works step-by-step That’s what we’re doing here. You’ll see: - Real workflows (not textbook explanations) - Practical breakdowns of filings, docketing, and client work - Templates and tools you can actually use - Straightforward guidance on how to grow in this field And this part matters… If you already have IP experience, don’t just lurk 👀Your insight could be exactly what someone else here needs. This is a space where we help each other get better. 👉 Start here:Drop a comment and share: - Your experience level (brand new / some experience / seasoned) - What you want to learn - What’s been confusing or frustrating so far I’ll use your answers to shape what I post next. Let’s build something solid here.
