Every great mission begins not with a grand blueprint, but with a single moment of clarity—a moment when a person looks at a problem in their community and chooses to say, "Not on my watch." For Pastor Biyinzika Dan, that moment came in 2009. Walking through his neighborhood, his heart heavy, he couldn't ignore the quiet crisis unfolding right before his eyes. A growing number of orphaned and vulnerable children were loitering in the streets. They weren’t in school. Many didn't have a stable place to sleep, let alone a hot meal. They were invisible to the world, but they weren't invisible to Pastor Dan. 🙏💖 Moved by a deep faith and inspired by the relentless love of Christ for those who suffer, Pastor Dan decided that open-ended sympathy wasn’t enough. Action was required. A Table Built for Six (and a Room That Kept Growing) Pastor Dan didn't wait for institutional funding or a formal organization. He simply opened his own front door. He brought six vulnerable children into his home, offering them a safe place to sleep, consistent food, and whatever support he could scrape together for school fees. What happened next is a testament to the power of a safe haven. Those first six children felt so safe, so loved, and so seen that they looked out at their friends who were still struggling in the streets and said, "Come with us. There is room." The children invited other children. The family grew overnight. Soon, the walls of a single home could no longer hold the sheer volume of hope and need gathering inside them. What started as a personal act of kindness rapidly transformed into a vital community movement. To fully protect, feed, and educate this beautiful, growing family, Grace for Africa Child Care was officially born. 🙏💖 Weathering the Storms 🌧☔ As any family knows, love protects, but it also faces trials. Realizing that the cost of external school fees and supplies was a massive barrier to breaking the cycle of poverty, Pastor Dan and his team took another leap of faith: they established Grace Community School, providing a quality education from pre-school all the way through Grade Seven.
