Hi Pavel and everyone, I just joined the community and would really appreciate some career advice. I'm currently a second-year Computer Science international student in Melbourne. My goal is to maximise my chances of getting a job in Melbourne after graduation, hopefully eventually get employer sponsorship and potentially PR. Recently, I searched around 400 IT job listings on SEEK in Melbourne. Cybersecurity was one of the largest categories, which initially looked promising. However, almost all of the roles required several years of experience. Out of roughly 400 listings, I found only two cybersecurity roles explicitly open to graduates. I then searched Reddit and other communities to understand how people actually enter cybersecurity. A common answer seems to be that cybersecurity isn't really an entry-level field: you first build experience in software engineering, IT, systems, cloud, networking, etc., and then pivot into security. However, there's even much limited roles for graduate SWE or Ai Engineers... most of them requires 2 - 5 years of experience. Any advice on how to prepare myself to land a highly competitive graduate CyberSecurity Role or maybe even land a relatively slightly less competitive but not-explicitly-for-graduate Cyber security role? Besides project taught by Pavel here in this Skool, what other projects would really impress interviewers?
