We’ve had a much colder March than usual. My husband runs the greenhouse and hydroponics at our school and it’s heated by a biomass system. This is his first year and he planted out in the greenhouse when they told him to. Everything froze and died. I think he’s planted it 4 different times. So nothing yet!

Observe then interact.
Let's Get It Started In Here
Drop a comment with: - Location + climate zone - Last frost window, if known - One goal for food - One goal for herbs - One problem spot in the yard We translate each weekly topic into local timing while keeping the same steady sequence.

Oh Where do I start!!! - Tok, Alaska I think Climate Zone 1 or 2 - The natives say not to plant outside until after the first full moon in June. - I think this year we'll stick to lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, and maybe some herbs. (We have a greenhouse and some raised beds. outside) - Basil would be nice! - With the summer sun here, our back yard is in the sun most of the day. A couple of years ago I burned all of my outside plants! I didn't do any outside last year, only in the greenhouse and they didn't do great.

@Jim Flach no. I’ll take a picture of it when I get home.
What does Oasis mean to you?
My vision of an Oasis is where we steward a protected pocket. Where soil wakes up and water can gather. It’s a place where natures helpers can promote abundance inside of scarcity. It is a designed living system that promotes resilience, captures water, builds fertile soil, grows shade and creates refuge for people, plants, animals. I see an Oasis as a place for rest, fellowship, barter, and steady resilience without fear. An Oasis is what each of us can dream in our mind, build with our body and enjoy with our soul.

I lived in Saudi Arabia when I was in Middle School. My dad worked out in the desert and had coworkers/friends that lived in Hofuf which is an oasis. After seeing absolute desert for hours, seeing that first spot of green, that first drop of water, well, it’s the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen! It can literally mean life!
