Back story for my short stories
I'm giving you a short explanation of my short stories so that you are not completely lost as you read them. They are all based in a large peninsula that is magically separated from the rest of the world, it is self-sustaining and has no trade outside of the country, and a small archipelago of islands nearby The point of the barrier was to protect the people of the country and islands from outside demonic/devilish influence, I will explain that bit in a moment, but the demonic/devilish powers seeded sleeper cults inside with other refugee who pass down and recruit people to create portals to bypass the barrier. Which is one of the many dangers the heroes are against. Sorry, There going to be more explanation than I planned so bear with me.... now that I am typing this I have to some how share this information with my future readers in more entertaining way... maybe I still with short stories for that too... So the next key thing is that the world is primarily controlled by demonic/devilish influence, and did an experiment of forcefully merging magic with embryos to make super-powered magical humans to fight in their armies against human rebels so they can focus their demonic armies in other agendas, the first successful child was merged with thunder and lightning magic, place holder name Zeus, Zeus is eventually kidnapped by the rebels and taught human ways, and he begins to fight for and lead the rebels, and eventually learns of and retrieves what he calls his siblings, other infants turned into weapons. bring war against the rebels to stand still the super soldiers being too much for the demonic/devilish powers at the moment. so they offer the magic soldiers and their followers the peninsula and on both sides cast the barrier that protects it, and over time Zeus and his siblings are worshiped as living gods. Until they begin to go mad and start causing cataclysmic events, floods, volcanoes, undead hordes, etc., etc. a hero emerges. With assistance from the churches of the gods, they put them into a slumber, but occasionally things disturb the gods' sleep and cataclysmic events occur over the centuries. being the second main danger of the heroes.

I REALLY like this. (Sounds like you have some background in history and religion, and are drawing from both...?) As someone who likes to look "behind the curtain" at mythology and religion, I suspect that some of what you describe has parallels to what really happened wayyyyyy back in our history.

p.s. Huge Lovecraft fan here. ;-) Two of my WoW characters are named from his stories.

What's with the weird looking American flag?
The flag you see depicted with blue stars and white union, with stripes standing tall, is called the Civil Peace Flag of America. It is not at odds with the Maritime War Flag, Ol' Glory, that we all know and love. The War Flag is meant to be flown over vehicles and bases of military units in times of war, and the Peace Flag is meant to indicate that you seek to maintain peace. we can discuss this further in the American State National Category.

Where is the "Love" button. ;-) I'd love to see the day when everyone flies the Peace flag.
Dog, Wolf, Hybrid... Explain?
Well, we all know what dogs are, so lets start there. Dogs came from Dire Wolves long ago when we formed a partnership between the species. Eventually, we began domesticating them to perform unique and specific functions. This how the wild wolf of old, became a Pug, beagle, Hound, Caucasian Shepard, ovtcharka, Akita, German Shepard, ect... some were bred and the blood line was consistently made to heard, or guide, lived in the cold from birth until death, guard a specific piece of land, and so on. After generations, each became better and better (genetically predisposed) to that performed function. which means what you do with your dog(s) matter(s) because you're contributing to their species continued evolution to produce the dog that you raise. so, in the modern day we have grey and artic wolf, we have breeds of Dog, and we have Hybrids. this is where we are on the timeline of "dog" history. Wolves have still evolved from Dire wolves, and most have the ability to work with humans in their historic capacity (although, because of very bad practices being enforced for the last several generations, some lines of wolf are probably destroyed for the foreseeable future... sadly..) and the wolves that can work with and get along with humans lead full and happy lives with their owners like any other dog. once you know the animal in front of you is a workable animal, then it becomes a matter of consistent training and relationship building. Any thoughts?

@Allen Hale they are technically feral, yes... Like "wild" cats, pigs, and horses. The only reason they are a special case is because Australians are trying to keep them from being poisoned to extinction, since they fill the apex predator niche in Australia. Politics as usual.

@Allen Hale every continent except Antarctica has a form of feral dog, but only in Australia are they specifically called dingoes. (Well, except for Thai dingoes.) They have certainly adapted to their niche, especially the ones on Frasier Island which are the most primitive of the bunch, imo. Bringing them into your house is much like bringing a wolf in, in the sense that there are some genetic traits you're not going to override (in their case, mostly prey drive) and they are more likely to be afraid of humans. Their great great grandparents were Southeast Asian domestic dogs, but they have pretty much become their own high maintenance breed now.
Ideas?
Well, I guess we're all new here...testing out the waters! What topics do people feel aren't being discussed enough? I feel like one of the biggest issues in this country right now is that people live in their own internet "bubbles" and aren't exposed to new information and differing perspectives. Happy to contribute to any efforts to repair that.

"is there a phrase or message you'd like to see when first arriving to a group or gathering that would immediately let you know "Truth is welcome here"?" You can usually tell by a group's rules whether they intend to censor the heck out of the conversation... A promise not to delete respectful posts regardless of agreement is Step 1. That's becoming hard to find...
