Who Is Your Child's Person?
Family, I have a question for you today, and I think it is going to bring some smiles. Who is your child's person? Maybe it is you. Maybe it is a grandmother who gets them. An uncle who plays their favorite game with them for hours. A teacher who noticed them. A cousin, a neighbor, a coach, a church auntie. Tell us about that person, and what they do that makes your child feel seen. Here is why I am asking. One of the most protective things in any child's life is having at least one adult who truly sees them. When we name those people, we remember how much protection is already surrounding our children. And if you are still looking for that person for your child, say that too. This community is a place to start building. Dr. KC

@Dr. Karine Clay PhD I truly appreciate that. Sometimes it feels like I'm all alone in this with her. Her father has done unspeakable things so he's completely cut out from her life. I feel her pain and struggles everyday and I've just began to realize that by being her person and always being there, that I forget myself in the equation. I live for her and forget that I need to live too. I've realized that I was just existing.

@Dr. Karine Clay PhD Thank you so much Dr. Karine. I have felt a tremendous change in my way of thinking and also dealing with situations. My daughter is carrying scars of her own at 12 and as much as I hold her, she holds me as well. She'll ask me if I'm ok, tell me when I look sad and encourage me to take time for myself. Im grateful everyday for her. The question you asked, what is one thing that makes me feel like me? I like walking so I'll put some music in my ears and take a stroll. I can't say how long its been but thank you for asking. I'll definitely be working on this. God bless you.
First Mood Check Monday (**This runs every Monday going forward**)
Mood Check Monday: How Are You Walking Into This Week? Good morning, my darlings. Before the week gets loud, before the school drop-offs and the appointment reminders and the emails pile up, I want to check in with you. How is your nervous system doing this Monday? There are no wrong answers here. You can say 'exhausted.' You can say 'cautiously hopeful.' You can say 'hanging in there,' and that is more than enough. Caregivers, parents, educators, helpers: your feelings matter here too. The BRIDGE is not just for the children you support. It is for you as well. Drop a word, an emoji, or as many sentences as you need. I am reading everything. Dr. KC

I'm hanging in there by the grace of God.
Quick check in. No pressure, no wrong answers.
Drop a number in the comments: 1 if you are here as a parent or caregiver, 2 if you are here as an educator or school professional, 3 if you are both, 4 if you are something else entirely. That is it, just a number. I want to know who is in the room with me. Dr. KC
