I've always secretly wanted to own my own business that was either craft-related or something creative related. After 30+ years of higher education work, mostly in business analytics and IT, I am tired of spreadsheets, data errors, user testing, etc. I just want to create color books and activity books for kids. I want to see the smiles on their faces and their eyes light up when they can pull out their art supplies and bring out their own creativity.

Something that energizes me is being creative. I love going into Canva and creating K-2 materials that teachers want and need. It brings me joy when they buy my products and then tell me how much their students enjoyed them. What drags me down is the search for a full-time job (I lost my job 5 months ago) that will pay the mortgage, insurance, and the bills. I wish I didn't have to rely on this type of income while trying to get my new business off the ground. I know that it can take anywhere from 1-3 years for a new business to see results (I need an income of $70K as I am the only breadwinner in my household, as my dog can't hold a job). I wish I had the opportunity to save money while working (most of the extras went to home repairs and medical bills) so that I could just work solely on my business.
