Recording: June 2026 Book Club Meeting
I want to thank everyone for coming out tonight for the book club meeting! I saw some friends I haven't talk to in a long time - @Robert Kuehnle ! Remember next month we are moving the book club meeting to 2:00 pm central time to try and make it more convenient for everyone and just o try something new. The month after that we will do it in the morning to see if we can get our UK members a chance to be at the meeting. Alright Good night!

Hi everyone, I am new to Kathy's Book Club. I write historical fiction. DISPLACED: A Family without a Country is WWII novel is based on the life of Irena McCrary and highlights the Lithuanian's plight and Hamburg's firestorm. The book won DKG Educator's Book Award for 2026, plus $2,500 and was a finalist for the Pacific Northwest Literary Contest in historical fiction. I live in Illinois and would love to hear your journey. My story is that I started in romantic suspense and published two books in the Hickory Hills series, but when I heard Irena tell her story I knew I had to write it. It took me five years to write. Is this usual for historical fiction? I am writing the continuation of her life 1945-1951 and still plodding slowly.

Just FYI....I'm a senior citizen living in Alabama. I'm not a member of any book clubs, as I can't find any! But I'm hopeful that I can find more reading clubs in a search. So, if any of you "down South" writers want a book club, I'll be glad to help. @Kathy L. Murphy I do love this format and the group!! Thank you.
