Getting out of a sewing rut 🥴
Hello everyone! It's been a while since I posted here - so much has been going on : homeschooling, having a baby and some other family stuff. I really miss sewing 😅 I sometimes feel like my project is too simple to post 😩😂 (Like no one wants to see you make a headband, Christine 😬) Well, all things aside I want to do more over here - so let me know what you need! A course walkthrough? A challenge? Tips? A fun workshop to make something? Are you stuck in a sewing rut or is it just me 🙃

Oh gosh getting out of a rut is so hard to do, but great once you get your rhythm back. Being without my sewing machine for two weeks and the excitement of getting it back yesterday has really lifted my sewing major!😁😁 Being in a cold winter also doesn't help but good luck to everyone stuck at the moment, I hope you soon get your sewing rhythm, summer stalls and gift time is coming up fast!

@Diane Thomas Hi Diane, the markings on your sewing machine will be accurate, normally 1cm (3/8") and 1.5cm (5/8") Most of today's patterns have the seem allowance factored into the pattern. They will state so if not. Pattern seams are mainly 1.5cm (5/8 inch) unless the pattern stipulates 1cm (3/8inch). Always very important tovread the pattern instructions. Christine has so much available in this course that will answer your questions and give you confidence to happily sew clothes!

Hello Tesha, welcome to the group. I am sure you will be making bags in no time. We had so much fun making them last year!

I started an overdue big clean up on my sewing room, could not let go of any fabric or scraps but it is looking a whole lot neater! Still a lot more to do as I need to put some shelving up.

@Christine Craythorne I understand the half bag thing 100%. I move from the donate pile to the project pile continuously. I like your idea of making a list of what I can do with it.
What's your biggest sewing challenge?
Have you ever had some free time, wanted to sew and then just get...STUCK? What's keeping you from starting? 💭🤔

@Celeste Goosen I often have this dilemma, looking at patterns and my fabric stash, unable to decide which to do with what! I often land up buying a new piece, sigh! 😃😀😁

@Celeste Goosen I know, it's almost more fun than sewing!😃
October : Beginner's Course Walk Through
I've been chatting to some of our newer members and it sounds like going through the Sewing 101 Course together will be very helpful for many in the group. Doing things together instantly makes it more motivating and less overwhelming! ➡️ I'll work through it with you over 2 weeks, with small, easy tasks to complete weekly. ➡️We'll be sewing a beginner project that can help you practice using your machine. Who's in? 💭 Let me know and I'll start setting it up 👇
