This was one of the windiest games I have EVER filmed!
On Saturday, I filmed my latest match for my Up North Productions YouTube channel and social media pages. I live streamed the game as well...although the stream went live just before kickoff, rather than 10 minutes before as planned! The reason? The wind and weather! It was a nightmare to get set up! It also didn't help that I was told the match was taking place on one of the grass pitches, when it was actually being played on the artificial pitch nearby! So I had to take the tower down and get set up in the right place! It was a tricky day to film, the camera was moving around quite a lot because of the hurricane! (well it wasn't actually a hurricane, but it felt like the tower was going to blow away at times!) It was quite a big game. 1st v 2nd in the Mid Lancs Football League Division 2, Preston City v Lancaster Red Rose FC. I did think it would be closer than it was, but I got some fantastic footage, and some of my reels have gone viral! I will explain in my classroom very soon how I choose those clips, and how I do it... But for now, you can watch the match highlights video below👇

This is the place to shout about your wins, big or small 🎉
First match filmed. First 100 followers. First time a club asked you to come back. First payout. First clip that did numbers. Whatever it is — post it here. We celebrate the lot. No win's too small. The bloke who films his first wobbly match deserves the same cheer as someone landing their first paid booking. Let's build each other up.

What gear do I actually need to start?
The most common question I get: "what do I need to start?" Short answer — less than you think. You do not need a £4,000 camera. When you're starting, what matters is a stable, high, wide shot that follows the play, filmed at 60fps so the motion's smooth. That's it. What are you all working with at the minute? Drop your setup below — camera, tripod, whatever you've got — and if you're thinking of buying, ask before you spend. Cheaper to ask here than to waste money on kit you don't need.

New here? Introduce yourself 👋
Let's get to know each other 👋 Drop a quick intro below: - Where you're based - What you're filming (or want to film) - What you're using right now — phone, camera, whatever - One thing you're hoping to crack I'll start: Stuart, based in Lancaster, been filming grassroots and non-league football for 9 years under Up North Productions. Started with nothing, built it into something that pays — and this is where I share how. Your turn 👇

Post your footage here — I'll go first 🎥
Here's a bit of footage from one of my recent games — filmed up high on the Hi-Pod, 60fps, with my own scoreboard overlay. Not posting it to show off, posting it so you can see the kind of thing we'll be helping each other level up to. https://youtu.be/ER0engrTVns?si=brEgNUI14uWJlegS This is the space to drop YOUR footage — highlights, a full clip, even something off your phone. Doesn't matter what you filmed it on or how rough it is. Post it, and we'll give you honest, useful feedback to make the next one better. Who's next? Don't be shy — every single person in here started with a first clip.

I film local football for a living — highlights, reels, full matches, livestreams. Built it from zero. Here to teach you how to do the same.
