Why YouTube Is the Only Platform That Actually Works for Coaches and Consultants
Let's be honest about something. Most of us have spent months - maybe years - posting on LinkedIn, Instagram, or Facebook. We've written the posts, shown up consistently, got the likes. And then waited for the enquiries that never quite came. That's not a you problem. That's a platform problem. Those platforms were built for entertainment and connection. They're not built for the way coaches and consultants actually sell. The content disappears in hours. The algorithm rewards volume. And the people scrolling past your post? They're not looking for help. They're just... scrolling. YouTube is completely different. It's a search engine. People arrive with a specific problem they want solved. They type in exactly what they're struggling with โ€” and if your video answers that question, they find you. Not because you paid for an ad. Not because you posted three times a day. Because you made the right video, once, and it kept working. That's the bit most coaches don't realise. A well-placed YouTube video doesn't expire. It ranks. It gets recommended. Six months after you uploaded it, someone you've never met finds it, watches the whole thing, and books a call. That's not a theory. That's how this works. The Authority Engine is built around one idea: that a coach or consultant with genuine expertise should be able to use YouTube to generate inbound enquiries - without going viral, without building a massive audience, and without spending 20 hours a week on content. Six focused hours a month. The right videos, targeting the right search terms, at the right CAT Moment - the exact Challenge, Aspiration, or Transformation your ideal client is already searching for. One metric. Inbound enquiries from people who already know they want to work with you. If that's what you're here for, you're in the right place.

Such a solid message! It should be obvious, but it's not. YouTube is a search engine, and the others are mainly entertainment. That is one of those points that is so clear when someone else points it out you wonder why you didn't notice it in the first place.
You're getting views. But nobody's booking a call.
That's not a YouTube problem. That's a targeting problem. Most coaches film what they find interesting, or what they think looks good on a channel. And YouTube rewards that with views. Curious browsers. People who are just passing through. But curious browsers don't book discovery calls. Coaches who've hit their CAT Moment do. There's a difference between someone who typed "10 tips for better productivity" into YouTube and someone who typed "how to get more coaching clients without cold outreach." Same platform. Completely different person. Completely different intent. One of those people is browsing. The other one is looking for you. The fix isn't more videos. It's one video aimed at the exact search term your ideal client is typing right now, when they're frustrated, when they want the outcome, when they're ready to move. Drop your niche below. I'll give you the one title you should be filming this week. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Most coaches treat LinkedIn like a numbers game
Connect fast. Pitch faster. Wonder why nobody responds. Here's what I actually do, and it takes 10 minutes. Find people engaging with relevant content. Check if they're active. Connect. No note. No pitch. Then I wait. The connection is the introduction. The engagement that follows is the relationship. And the relationship is what creates the conversation worth having. Slow by design. But every conversation that comes from it arrives warm. Worth watching if you're building on LinkedIn right now.

Your strategy is perfect. Plus, with the new LinkedIn 360 Brew algorithm, you're going reap a lot more fruit from your labor. Engagement is the key now.

@Des Dreckett yes, but. The new spin on 360 Brew is very similar to what you were sharing about the new algorithms on YT. The short version is that LinkedIn has shifted it's focus from "connections" to "engagement" and your posts need to lineup and reflect your expertise as seen on your profile. If there is a disconnect, your posts have almost no reach. I'm connection heavy, but engagement light. ๐Ÿ˜
The Hours You're Wasting Aren't the Hours You Think
The crazy thing, most coaches are spending their best hours on the tasks that shouldn't need them. Scripting tweaks. Caption formatting. Research rabbit holes. Basic SEO decisions. Inside The Authority Engine, AI and automation absorb that layer entirely, leaving 6 focused hours a month for the one thing that actually builds inbound enquiries: occupying the right territory with the right content. The coaches, seeing consistent inbound, aren't working harder. They've just stopped doing the work the system should be doing for them. What's the one task in your content workflow eating the most time right now?

@Des Dreckett yep. Grok is nice and quick. I think I'm just about settled on my revised niche. You'll be the first to know! Planning to settle for real by Saturday am.
