Social Media Interactions
In light of recent events, here’s an important reminder: regardless of where you are in your pilot journey, your social media activity—posts, comments, likes, or interactions—can literally make or break your career. Be mindful. Be respectful. Always assume that your future interviewer at a major airline is reading your posts out loud, back to you. You’ve worked incredibly hard to get where you are. Don’t let something as preventable as a careless online interaction derail your career and your future.

I agree with Joni 100%! In recent days we have become aware of several pilots at multiple airlines being terminated for their social media posts, likes, and contributions. Regardless of your beliefs and opinions, social media is probably not the place to have those discussions and debates. Make your airline career your priority! If you choose to be active on social media, I highly recommend you keep it professional and positive. If you wouldn't say it in an interview, then please don't say it online!
Southwest hiring
Southwest Airlines is gearing up to resume interviews this year. What are some of your concerns about being ready for the opportunity?

@Cam Beaudoin Hey Cam-Great question! I agree with everything Ernie said. I'll just add a few things to consider. An associate's degree, bachelor's degree, master's, etc are all things that can set you apart from the competition. Leadership roles at your company (if applicable) such as assistant chief pilot, interview team, safety role, etc are excellent ways to stand out. Community involvement and volunteer work can help as well to show that you are selfless and not just focused on you. Once you get to your interview, integrity, humility, and displaying passion and enthusiasm for flying are vitally important! Best of luck!

@Roosevelt Chaves Good question! I doubt it will come back as a requirement in the near future, but most likely you will get credit/points for a degree if you have one. That can include an associate's degree as well as a bachelor's degree. The higher education level you have, the better! Best of luck!
