🏆 WHAT IS CHAMPIONS CHARACTER?
We've had a few messages recently from parents asking: "What exactly is Champions Character?" To be honest, I think this poster explains it better than I ever could! Most people think we teach martial arts. 🥋 We do. But that's not really why parents bring their children. Parents bring their children because of who they become. At Champions Character, martial arts is simply the vehicle we use to teach what really matters: ⭐ Focus ⭐ Confidence ⭐ Respect ⭐ Resilience ⭐ Self-Control ⭐ Leadership ⭐ Communication ⭐ Responsibility Every week, students work through a different part of the Champions Journey. They learn how to take responsibility for their choices, set goals, listen to others, work as a team, develop healthy habits, and build the confidence to believe in themselves. This is why you'll see children in karate uniforms and children in everyday clothes throughout the poster. Because Champions Character isn't just about what happens in the dojo. It's about what happens at home. It's about what happens at school. It's about the kind of friend they become. The kind of teammate they become. The kind of leader they become. The question we always come back to is simple: Who is your child becoming? Because long after a child forgets a kick, a punch, or even a belt grade, the character they develop stays with them for life. 🥋 Character Comes First. — Master T — The Karate Kid Teacher One More Thing Character Comes First Your child becomes like the people they spend time with. 🏆 WHAT IS CHAMPIONS CHARACTER?
🎯 DAY 2 – CHAMPIONS LISTEN FIRST
This week in our Champions Character schools, we're working on one of the most important habits a child can learn: 👂 Champions Listen First. In today's video, Stephen Covey shares a powerful story about a pair of glasses. The glasses worked perfectly for the person wearing them, so naturally they assumed they would work for someone else too. When they didn't work, he encouraged the other person to try harder. Then he used logic. Then emotion. Then guilt. At one point he even talked about how expensive the glasses were and the pain her mother went through to bring her into the world! Of course, none of it worked. Why? Because the problem wasn't effort. The problem wasn't attitude. The problem wasn't motivation. The problem was that they weren't her glasses. Covey's point is simple: If we don't understand the problem, we can't provide the solution. And that's why we dedicate an entire week to this habit. So many arguments between children start because nobody is really listening. So many friendship problems happen because children are trying to be understood before they have understood the other person. The ability to stop, listen, and genuinely seek to understand another person's point of view is one of the most valuable life skills a child can develop. It helps them become better friends. Better teammates. Better students. And one day, better husbands, wives, parents, leaders, and employees. That's why we don't just teach kicks and punches. We use martial arts to teach what is really important. Life skills first. Martial arts second. 🥋 And because we're on Week 35, the martial arts skill this week is the Spinning Hook Kick. Now that's a great way to learn listening skills! — Master T — The Karate Kid Teacher One More Thing Character Comes First Your child becomes like the people they spend time with. 🎯 DAY 2 – CHAMPIONS LISTEN FIRST
**CHAMPIONS LISTEN FIRST**
This week in our Champions Character classes, we're working on **Champions Listen First**. The interesting thing is that listening isn't just a skill for children. It's a skill that some of the most successful adults in the world spend their lives trying to master. Stephen Covey taught that one of the biggest problems in communication is that most people listen to reply, not to understand. Think about that for a moment. If listening is that important for adults, surely it's essential for children. But here's the challenge... If we sat children in rows of chairs and gave them a seminar on listening, would they learn it? Probably not. That's why we use martial arts to teach what is really important. Life skills first. Martial arts second. Every lesson gives children the opportunity to practise listening with their ears, eyes, body, and heart. They learn to focus, follow instructions, work with partners, and understand others. And because they're having fun, they don't even realise how much they're learning. Oh, and because we're on **Week 35**, the martial arts skill this week is... **The Spinning Hook Kick!** Now come on... That just sounds fun! So while the children think they're learning an awesome kick, they're also developing one of the most important life skills they'll ever need: The ability to listen first. ⏰ What Is Your Time Worth? ⏰
I was listening to an old Jim Rohn clip today, and one thing he said really stood out. He said: 👉 *"Time is more valuable than money."* Because you can always earn more money. But you can never earn more time. Once a day is gone, it's gone forever. That got me thinking... When parents bring their children to our academy, yes, they're investing money into lessons. But the bigger investment is something far more valuable. ❤️ Their time. Every lesson means a family has chosen to spend part of their day with us. A piece of their week. A piece of their life. And I never take that responsibility lightly. That's why I believe what we do has to be about much more than kicks, punches and belts. Of course, the children learn martial arts. 🥋 They learn to kick. 🥋 They learn to punch. 🥋 They learn self-defence skills. But that's only part of the story. What I'm really interested in is helping children become the best version of themselves. ⭐ More confident. ⭐ More focused. ⭐ More resilient. ⭐ Better listeners. ⭐ More responsible. ⭐ Better equipped for life. That's why we have take-home activities. That's why we've developed the Champions Character programme. Because if a family is going to trust us with a portion of their most valuable asset — their time — then we need to make sure they're getting far more than a martial arts lesson. We need to make sure they're getting life lessons. So whatever you're doing today, ask yourself: ❓ Are you getting your money's worth? But perhaps more importantly... ❓ Are you getting your time's worth? Because time is the one thing we can never get back.
