And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. 11. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. 12. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. 13. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. 14. And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. 15. The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? 16. And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? *MESSAGE* Whenever God wants to reverse the irreversible, He usually follows a process, which typically starts with a divine appointment. What this means is that He will divinely arrange for people to meet one another. There was once a 50-year-old man who had no wife simply because he couldn't bring himself to ask a woman, "Will you marry me?" The enemy bound him so tightly that he couldn't open his mouth to talk to any lady he was attracted to, even though he was highly educated. He knew he had a problem, but he didn't know how to be free. Fortunately for him, God instructed us to hold a programme in his town.

Psalm 118:1 READ: Matthew 14:22-32 22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. 23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. 24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? 32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. MESSAGE God made laws to control nature and the universe. However, these laws, along with every other thing that was created, were also made for His pleasure (Revelation 4:11). Whenever He wants, He can suspend the laws or reverse them to performa miracle. In today's Bible reading, Jesus persuaded His disciples to get into a ship and cross the sea to the other side while He went to a mountaintop to pray. By the time He came down from the mountain, the ship was already in the midst of the sea. Jesus then decided to suspend the law of gravity and walk on water to join His disciples. He didn't cancel the law; He only suspended it for a moment.

OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: THURSDAY APRIL 16TH 2026 THEME: REVERSING CURSES MEMORISE: Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: Galatians 3:13 READ: 2 Kings 2:19-22 19 And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren. 20 And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him. 21 And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land. 22 So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake. MESSAGE In today's Bible reading, the men of Jericho approached Elisha to tell him about the problems in their city. The city had problems because it had been placed under a curse by Joshua (Joshua 6:26), who had long been dead. After his death, the curse continued in full force until Elisha arrived on the scene and dealt with it from its roots. Regardless of how powerful a curse is, God has the power to reverse it and change it into blessings. In Genesis 49:5-7, Jacob was on his deathbed when he cursed Simeon and Levi. He said that they would be scattered in Israel. However, in Numbers 3:11-13, the Almighty God said to Moses, "I have decided in my sovereignty to make Levi my firstborn." In His sovereignty, God reversed Jacob's curse on Levi and turned it into honor. When a fellow is cursed, he or she often begins to experience hardship, suffering, pain, sickness, poverty etc. The devil operates freely in the life of anyone who is under a curse. This is why, if you notice that a curse is at work in your life or family, don’t keep quiet about it. Rather, cry unto the Lord and trust in His power to deliver you completely. He longs to deliver you from anything that might have kept you from operating in the fullness of His plans and purposes for your life. Jesus Christ has delivered you from the curse of the law, as you see in today's memory verse. He can overrule any curse that might have been placed on you by anyone and reverse generational curses, turning them into generational blessings.

Praise ye the LORD". *Psalm 113:9* *BIBLE READING* 2 KINGS 4:8-17 8. And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread. 9. And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually. 10. Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither. 11. And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there. 12. And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him. 13. And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people. 14. And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old. 15. And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door. 16. And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid. 17. And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life. *MESSAGE* Years ago, a woman, who was waiting on God for children, kept going to her pastor for prayers. After a while, the pastor said, "I’ve prayed for many people who were looking for children, and now, they have their children. Why is your case different?"
