The Midlife Truth No One Talks About
Midlife is a word that brings up all of feels. So much of that is based on societal norms, beliefs and projections. 🙄🤬 For the record, I think this all complete 💩! If you're in front of it, you might think things like "old, irrelevant, invisible, past your prime." I know I did until I got there... and it happens sooner and faster than you think. Going through it can be confusing with all of the physical symptoms and emotions. You're going through a massive multi-year transition that is unique to you and the life you've led. We often stumble through the earlier stages chasing symptoms (and rightfully so because who wants to be irritable, tired, brain foggy, and sad). 😵‍💫 Addressing that usually takes the edge off and you have a moment to think more clearly. BUT, sitting in this space can be uncomfortable because all of the things we've shoved down, ignored, and suppressed come up. This can feel jarring, especially if you're someone whose had success and built your identity on it. I certainly did. It made me face shame, worthiness and many shadow aspects of myself that I ignored. Ironically, before this I would've called myself confident, worthy and successful but I realized this identity was built on performing and achieving to prove myself worth. 🤯😮 I had to be broken down and raw to reveal the real me. This was HARD. I spent the greater part of a month crying, shedding, rebuilding and evolving. And I had no choice because my body was forcing me to face decades of things I buried. It felt like treading water in a hurricane with a blow up life preserver.🛟💨 But I'm SO grateful (even though it SUCKED going through it). After the confusion and sadness from grieving who I thought I was, the real and authentic me started to emerge. I was becoming, and I refused to shrink and play small for others. And I choose to see this as a gift and a wake up call. When we get to the heart of it, we get to fully step into and embody who we really are and share the gift of ourselves with the world.

@Sonja Bey YES!!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 we need to chat again soon. I've had so much change in what I'm going to offer. I'm ready to put up the new cover and about, but I was waiting until I got some new photos tomorrow. ☺️

@Sonja Bey And the ancestor part is such a huge component. There is so much that's passed on generation to generation, and it's our job to recognize it and break the cycle!
[Request🙏] Back From Vacation & Ready to Go!
I took a break that I didn't realize how much I needed. 😂 Isn't that always the case?! I posted a few times while I was away and then remembered WHY I was there. And it wasn't work. I was reminded in the moments I stepped back and watched my family play together or when I took the dog for a walk amidst the beauty of the wildflowers and mountains how much being present and grateful is essential to our lives and wellbeing. That connection to our loved ones, the earth and the divine feeds our souls. And that's what the heart of this community is. Connection, support, and guidance as we evolve and expand in midlife. Confidence and clarity are outcomes of this journey, and only a piece of the puzzle. So, I've been working behind the scenes to both refine and expand what is offered here, but this is where I need YOUR help. Over my 2 decades of working with women, I realized the magic of what I do is guiding successful women to stop living from the identity they built to survive and start leading from the woman they've become. The gift is that you stop living from a version of yourself that no longer fits. There's no longer an internal tug-of-war going on inside. No more showing up and performing for others. You get to be YOU. All of you. With no explanations necessary! Here is my ask. Let me know what ways you can best be served and how. I'm going to put a bunch of poll options down. Vote for your favorite, and then in the comments respond with anything else that sounds good from the list and feel free to offer up ideas too. 🙏 I've got the new version of this space almost ready to launch and I'm so excited to share it with with you all. 💖

@Mj Jackson Oh wow! Genetics has been one of my specialties in practice and consulting. Academic affairs is a whole other can of worms. 😉

@Mj Jackson I also tried some cold calling jobs in college and was not successful because I was not confident either 🤣. I'm naturally introverted and I've learned to become more extroverted. I'd like to think I do a decent job, but spending time with lots of people still drains me. I'm much better about understanding my body and boundaries now.
Trust Is Actually A Business Problem
Having confidence and clarity are a product of trust. Repetitions of tuning into your intuition, power and voice to make decisions builds this over time (not surprising, our brains like proof and will reinforce it🤯). You do this hundreds of times each day. But over the years, our self trust often erodes because of people pleasing, saying yes when you want to say no, hiding, avoiding, overcompensating and being who others' want us to be (underneath that is typically fear). And here's a truth most entrepreneurs and business owners don't want to hear: 💥 Business problems are often downstream of the trust problem.💥 Turning this around starts with honesty. Vote on where is this impacting you and/or your business the most (be honest 😉) 👇🏼

@Sonja Bey Also, and medical and scientific models we try to separate the mind, body, and spirit, but you can't because it's all connected and the Science is finally starting to reflect that. I've never needed that validation because I've always believed but it is helpful now that we live in an age where people love to throw out the phrase, "follow the science." 😉

@Mj Jackson I'm glad it resonated- you're not alone. 💖
Midlife Freedom on the 4th 🎇🎇🎇
What does the idea of freedom mean to you in midlife? A younger version of me would've said finances. And don't get me wrong, having money can't afford us many freedoms. But midlife me values the freedom of time. ⏳ Time is the one resource you can never get back or make more of, so I want to be present, be intentional, and enjoy the days and moments I have with those I love. I also value time for myself to re-energize, fill my own cup, create and just BE. This is what I was reflecting on this morning. What does freedom mean to you in midlife? Also, Happy Canada Day 🇨🇦 (7/1) and Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸 (7/4) to those in Canada and the U.S.

Just saw this quote from a friend and colleague. Such wisdom and what I believe many of us are striving for. Emotional Freedom. Freedom to be authentically ourselves. I feel this way too, but it's been years in the making. 💜
