What's Actually Happening to Your Hormones After 40 (And What You Can Do About It)
If you've been feeling foggy, exhausted, or like your body just stopped cooperating ( like mine has) your hormones are likely sending you a message. Here's the science behind what's really going on. In your 40s, your body begins perimenopause the transition phase before menopause that can last 2–8 years. 😱 During this time, estrogen and progesterone levels begin to fluctuate and decline. Because estrogen plays a role in regulating your mood, metabolism, bone density, cholesterol, and even your cardiovascular system, these changes can have a wide-reaching impact on how you feel every day. Research from Johns Hopkins Medicine confirms that declining estrogen increases cortisol sensitivity , meaning stress hits harder, sleep becomes disrupted, and brain fog becomes more common. Hot flashes affect up to 75% of menopausal women and can persist for 4–5 years or longer, according to multiple clinical studies. What can you do? Evidence-based strategies include: • Whole foods nutrition lean protein, calcium-rich foods, healthy fats, and magnesium (found in leafy greens and seeds) all support hormone function. • Phytoestrogens found naturally in flaxseed, soybeans, and red clover, these can have a mild estrogenic effect and may help moderate symptoms. • Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for women experiencing significant symptoms, HRT is FDA-approved and supported by updated 2024 research showing it reduces long-term risks for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis when started at the right time. Most importantly: your symptoms are real, measurable, and treatable. This is your body shifting not failing. 💬 Community Question: What perimenopause symptom has hit you or surprised you the most? Drop your experience below. You might help someone feel less alone. 🫂

For myself it's been a wild ride! From the hot flashes to feeling exhausted ( though that could be because of how busy I allow myself to get), to the things I can no longer eat. I drink mushroom 🍄 tea and take lions mane for my brain health. 🦁 Lift weighs because now it's more important than ever to build up bone strength (watch for tomorrow's post on that). Making sure I've got a quality supplement vitamin mineral support.
SoulFuel Daily- Encouragement
Hey, good morning, good morning, lady. Ladies today, we're gonna talk a little bit about encouragement. And the reason I decided to do this is our topic today is in noticing out in the world yesterday. How a lot of people have become very judgmental of others? And I understand why there's a lot of division mentality right now and a lot of blame negative energies, if you go out into the world, you could probably feel it. If you're an empath, you're probably really feeling a lot of the negative energies, it's probably getting like headaches and body aches and things like that. So make sure that you take care of yourself. But when it comes back to encouragement, okay, there's reasons that it's a good thing and oh gosh, how do we get into this kind of thing, because this is such a cool subject. All right. So with encouragement The more that you put into others. Okay, that's gonna come back into you. So when we look at other people and we say, you know, we notice what's going on with them? Okay, it's really not that difficult to just say something encouraging to them. Whether they're going through good things or bad things. That's the thing we don't have to even decipher on you know, well, does this deserve encouragement? No, everything deserves encouragement. Everything does so, you know, if you see somebody who's struggling at work, you know, encourage them to talk to, you know, a manager or a co-worker or somebody who can help them kind of get through this problem at work HR if they need to go to HR, you know something like that, if it's somebody who is struggling in a relationship? You know, encourage them to ask their person who they're having this relationship issue, you know, for what they need or to communicate with them. If they're doing very well in their business or they're doing very well anywhere any other place in their life encourage them there, you know, good for you. I'm proud of you. That's awesome. I can see that you've been trying really, really hard. You know, those kinds of words and you know, or just it's just the thing is, is that it doesn't take much of anything literally it takes what maybe 5 seconds to you know, post a comment or send a text. You can even send like a meme or you know, a gift or something like that.

@Mary Ruff awesome!!
Over 50? Let's talk about refined sugars and thy impact on your health
Removing refined sugar for women over 50 slows biological aging, reduces inflammation, and improves metabolic health, with studies indicating that even small reductions can reverse premature cell aging. Key benefits include improved skin elasticity, sustained energy levels, reduced belly fat, and better mood regulation. The FDA recommends limiting added sugars to no more than 50 grams per day. Benefits for reducing refined for women Over 50: - Slower Cellular Aging: Diets low in added sugar are linked to a younger biological age, as excessive sugar causes telomeres—caps on DNA—to shorten faster. - Weight Management & Reduced Belly Fat: A 30-day, no-added-sugar diet can result in significant weight loss, particularly around the midsection. - Skin Health: Lowering sugar intake reduces the binding of sugar to collagen, which helps prevent wrinkles and loss of skin elasticity. - Improved Metabolic Health: Cutting out refined sugar helps prevent or manage age-related conditions like diabetes, obesity, and high cholesterol. - Stable Mood and Energy: Removing sugar prevents blood sugar crashes, reducing fatigue and mood swings.  Strategies for Success - Prioritize Protein and Fiber: Swap sugary breakfasts for options high in protein and fiber to reduce cravings. - Read Labels: Be diligent about checking ingredient lists, as hidden sugars are in many packaged foods. - Hydrate: Increase water intake to help kidneys flush out excess sugar. - Swap Smart: Choose whole fruits instead of juice or processed snacks. - Understand Cravings: Evaluate if hunger is actually thirst or a need for comfort, and address it accordingly.  Common sources of refined sugar to avoid include sodas, processed snacks, candies, and many condiments. No, this doesn't mean we need to stop living. It means we need to start living better. 💪🏼 Watch for more info on how refined sugars and high fructose corn syrup can REALLY mess your system up if your over 30, over 50, and 60+. You won't want to miss it.

@Mary Ruff I think when I do them, once a week, which i realize is often , it helps me to notice during the next week before I get to deep in. That's growth happening! It helps me to recognize and take action or avoid energy leaks before they happen. Are there certain situations where you experience this? Where do you usually
