New Year, New Challenge: The Dev100 Challenge! 🎉
User Roles & Permissions in Clerk
Hey PapaFam, I just geeked out over the documentation in Clerk. I was trying to manage user roles and permissions in my diy build project. At first, I found Sonny's recent video helpful to understand a high level overview but he used Auth0. I learned a ton from his video as always ( @Sonny Sangha is an OG!) However, I find I'm just a fan of Clerk. They make things so simple. But I had never used clerk to try to manage user roles and permissions or protect multiple routes in my app based on those roles. So I dove deep into their documentation. I feel like I now know an unhealthy amount of Clerk documentation - haha. Also, it help a ton to think through this early in your project. For example, if you wanted to make your own SaaS product that chats to PDF like in Sonny's challenge but had an admin role and a moderator role, I would map that out and build out the user management before messing around at all with the cool ai and chat to pdf functions. It just helps so much later down the road. If anyone wants help with that on their builds, feel free to drop a comment below (and "like" my post - I'm so close to the next level!!) Happy Coding!

Celebrating 3 Years of Papafam - Grateful to Sonny & Jay 🎉
Three years ago (Dec 27, 2021), @Sonny Sangha and @Jay Rathod embarked on a journey to create something extraordinary, and today, we celebrate Papafam's incredible milestone. Anyone who have listened to the podcast knows the ideas started 25 of December I recommend you listen yourself. I want to express my deepest gratitude to @Sonny Sangha and @Jay Rathod for being such inspiring mentors, not only in the world of coding but also in life. Their passion, resilience, and generosity have created a community where aspiring developers like me can learn, grow, and thrive. Principles to Learn from Sonny & Jay as a Developer: 1. Learn How to Learn: Sonny emphasized, "You need to learn how to learn before starting coding"(Podcast Ep. 1, 11:04). Develop your unique learning style, whether through hands-on practice or reverse engineering. 2. Teach to Master: "Your skills will improve if you teach someone"(Podcast Ep. 1, 22:18). Teaching someone at a lower skill level not only strengthens your understanding but also builds confidence. 3. Embrace Self-Learning: Sonny and Jay are self-taught developers who show that perseverance and curiosity can lead to mastery. Sonny said, "You could go from zero to amazing developer with the free stuff on the channel" (Ep. 8, 12:12). 4. Enjoy the Process: "You have to enjoy the process; otherwise, you will quit" (Podcast Ep. 1, 38:20). Coding is a journey of constant growth, not just a destination. 5. Overcome Challenges: Sonny candidly shared his struggles with imposter syndrome and debugging but stressed the importance of perseverance. He noted, "Whatever you do, always have the idea to improve" (Podcast Ep. 5, 47:50). 6. Mentorship is Key: "You need a mentor who has done what you want to do and can save you from errors" (Podcast Ep. 6, 47:01). Both Sonny and Jay credit their growth to learning from others and giving back through mentorship.

🎄✨ Reflecting on 2024: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! 🎉
2024 has been a rollercoaster of a year, full of challenges and growth. Freelancing wasn’t easy, and finding clients in my country was a tough battle that left me feeling discouraged. But everything started to change when I picked up Atomic Habits—a book that truly reshaped my mindset and daily life. 📖✨ The turning point came with the AI SaaS Challenge. This amazing experience reignited my confidence and introduced me to the incredible PaPaFam community. 💪🌍 The support and inspiration from this group helped me land a job offer, and though it kept me busy, it was a dream come true. I might have been quiet for a while, but I’m excited to return stronger in 2025, ready to share my journey, knowledge, and inspiration with you all. 🚀 Thank you, @Sonny Sangha , @Jay Rathod and PaPaFam, for being a part of my journey. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with hope, success, and endless opportunities! 🎁🎅🎉
