Ever Wondered This? 😱
Ever wondered if the thing that you’re doing that you think is helping you lose weight is actually keeping you stuck? Newsflash - Caring too much about your results is the exact thing keeping you stuck. When you force your way through fitness — white-knuckling every meal, controlling every detail — you create the resistance that leads to self-sabotage. The shift? Going from force to flow. In this episode, we talk about how your ego keeps you fighting, why stillness is your secret weapon, and the one mindset shift that made consistency effortless for us after years of struggling. Enjoy the show and when you’re done, let us know what did we say that really hit home for you 👇

Very interesting. I like to have structure and a plan for my workouts too, but I can understand and appreciate that if you know what fits into your weekly goals for exercise you may not have an exact plan. I do think I tend to be very strict and struggle with being flexible and staying on track.

Low cortisol, but still carrying fat?
A client asked this in our Savage Sister Community... thought it would be valuable for you. If high cortisol creates belly fat, why do I still have belly fat with low cortisol? Cortisol is not the only hormone involved in body fat... Belly fat has multiple causes, and cortisol is only one of them. Low cortisol doesn't cancel out the others. Here's probably more information than you care for: 1. Insulin is the bigger driver of fat storage Insulin is the primary fat-storage hormone. Every time you eat — especially refined carbs and sugar — insulin spikes and tells your body to store energy as fat. Chronically elevated insulin (from frequent eating, high-carb diets, or insulin resistance) is one of the most common reasons belly fat won't budge, regardless of cortisol levels. 2. Estrogen dominance In women, excess estrogen (or a poor estrogen-to-progesterone ratio) drives fat to be stored specifically around the hips, thighs, and lower belly. This is extremely common during perimenopause and menopause — even in women who are otherwise "healthy." 3. Low testosterone / poor muscle mass Testosterone helps maintain muscle, and muscle is metabolically active — it burns fat even at rest. Low testosterone (common in women 35+) means less muscle, slower metabolism, and more fat accumulation — especially centrally. 4. Poor sleep Sleep deprivation increases hunger hormones (ghrelin), decreases satiety hormones (leptin), impairs glucose metabolism, and leads to fat storage — particularly visceral (belly) fat. This happens independent of cortisol levels. 5. Caloric surplus / sedentary lifestyle The most basic driver: if energy in consistently exceeds energy out over time, the body stores fat — and for most women, that storage defaults to the midsection first. No hormone needs to be elevated for this to happen. 6. Hypothyroidism or sluggish thyroid An underactive thyroid slows metabolism significantly and is associated with weight gain and difficulty losing fat, particularly in the abdominal area.

Very interesting! Completely see how there are many factors contributing to weight gain/storing fat

@Erin Attwood I get poor sleep overall… and I know I eat more but didn’t think about how the gherlin and leptin are off… everyone talks about cortisol being the issue but I had mine tested and it was normal so it’s like ok… what’s wrong with me… this explains it!
💪🏼 Your first step to looking and feeling good.
Go Gett(HER)s is here to give you the tools, resources, and guidance to ultimately build your confidence and LOVE what you see when you look in the mirror. 🪞 ✨ It's quite the feeling!! 🙌 If that means fat loss, building muscle, or learning how to simply appreciate yourself and the hard work you put in day in and day out... 💪 🔥 If that means learning how to stop shaming yourself for the mistakes you make. 💭 If that means learning how to be consistent and follow through with the promises you make to yourself... We're here for it. 👏 I used to weigh 40 pounds more than I do now (with NO muscle). 😮 Struggled with overeating. 🍕 😩 Lack of self-control around food. Feeling like I could "eat good" for a few days, then would just say screw it... Then feel bad about myself... until I would start again (usually on a Monday) 📆 😔 Then the cycle would continue. It sucked... Since then (2009), we've worked with over 10,000 women online to help them get back on track, gain momentum, and get awesome results... 🎉🙌 Over the last couple of years, we've grounded ourselves so we can really serve to the highest level (starting with this group as a hub where you will be able to access all you need to overcome anything you're struggling with - related to your body goals). 🌱💛 If you tell us what your goals are in the comments (and be specific), it will help us make this group FOR YOU and your needs... not just what we think you want. 🎯 👇 Comment below this with your: - Goals 🎯 - Struggles 😓 - Things you specifically want help with 🙋‍♀️ - Resources or tools that you think would be helpful for you. 🛠️ WE GOT YOU! ❤️‍🔥 Below are reviews from when we had a Facebook group, and how the women loved what we do. Goals: to lose 50+ lbs Struggles: time to focus on myself. Kids 8 yrs, 9 yrs, 11 yrs and 16 months. Hubby work nights so I can work in the day and after the kids are in bed along with keeping house clean. I do mornings and bedtime solo with all 4. When working at night I’m prone to snacking as I work from the kitchen table and sometimes snack to stay awake. I love to exercise (walk and lift), I know I can eat well but just started being more disciplined this week! Want to get back to the healthy happy momma I had been but struggling
