☕ Weekend FDE Coffee Chat
I'm thinking of hosting a casual online coffee session this weekend for everyone in the community. No slides. No formal presentation. Just a relaxed conversation about: - Breaking into Forward Deployed Engineering - AI careers and job opportunities - Interview preparation - Building projects and portfolios - Networking with other members - Live Q&A Would you join? If you're interested, comment with your time zone and your preferred day (Saturday or Sunday). That'll help me schedule a time that works for the most people.

The SDE → FDE Roadmap: From Coder to the Engineer Customers Trust Over Their Own Vendors
You can write good code. That's the starting line, not the finish line. Forward Deployed Engineers the people who get dropped into a customer's messy world, find the real problem, build the solution, and own the outcome are some of the highest-paid, most in-demand engineers in the market right now, especially at AI-native companies. Almost no SDE has this skill set by default. This roadmap is the exact path from where you are to that role. Two courses. One journey. Here's the whole map, so you always know where you are and what's next. THE JOURNEY AT A GLANCE YOU ARE HERE → SDE who writes solid code but has never owned a customer outcome ⬇ PART 1 — Builder to Deployed Engineer Learn to find the right problem, prototype fast, and run your first deployment ⬇ PART 2 — Trusted Technical Owner Learn to ship production systems, navigate politics, and grow accounts DESTINATION → The technical voice a customer trusts over their own vendors Everything runs on one core loop you'll master and repeat: Discover → Prototype → Deploy → Expand 🟢 PART 1 — SDE → FDE: The Foundations Builder to Deployed Engineer · 8 modules · 32 lessons · ~6 weeks · No client experience needed This is where you rewire how you work. You stop waiting for tickets and start owning outcomes. By the end you can sit across from a customer, pull the real problem out of a vague conversation, build something that solves it in days, and demo it so well they ask "when can we have this." Your milestones: ☐ Module 1 — Understand what an FDE actually is (and why they get paid more) ☐ Module 2 — Make the mindset shift: outcomes over output ☐ Module 3 — Run a discovery call without freezing ☐ Module 4 — Learn a customer's world fast and find where the value hides ☐ Module 5 — Build a clickable prototype in under a day ☐ Module 6 — Wrangle ugly, real-world data without over-engineering ☐ Module 7 — Deliver a demo that makes people believe ☐ Module 8 — Run your first lightweight deployment ☐ 🏁 Capstone — A full simulated engagement you can show off

Data Engineers transitions
Hi Everyone, Siddharth this side from Bengaluru, new to community and SKOOL itself. Its interesting to be here. Just wanted to learn about experiences about transitioning from data engineering to more niche areas under data domains, kind of involving GPU programmings, MLOPS, and yeah, the obvio FDEs. Also interested to learn how changing the industrial domains can help in the best terms.
