Happy New Year! After a quiet yet potent holiday, my doll-making took an unexpected pause when I cut part of my thumb while slicing a lime. This small injury created a much-needed rest as my thumb healed, making creating smooth and enjoyable again. Today I’m sharing a reading I recorded recently that, after much consideration, is just for my private community. This year-ahead reading explores the power of softening while maintaining boundaries, and much more. Over the past two years, I have been carefully refining my Artist Kits. What began as a simple box with a handful of materials has slowly evolved into a vessel of wonder-layered, intentional, and alive with possibility. My ancestry traces back to the Celtic Isles and Norse lands, yet my feet walk the soils of North America. This land has been my greatest teacher. Not a gentle education, and certainly not a path for the faint of heart, but one that has shaped my hands, my rhythm, and my way of listening. The Visionary Artist Kits feel, to me, like a bridge- honouring where we come from while celebrating where we stand now. A meeting place. A remembering. ✨ Tomorrow, that bridge comes alive. ✨ For the first time, the Visionary Artist Kit will be woven together with a live, virtual gathering, where the materials in your hands meet guided creation, shared presence, and the quiet power of making together, across land and distance. Hi Shelly and everyone. This doll have taken a while to come through because there was so much intention needed for her. She represents me in a way, she has silk around her heart space representing healing energy and earth. Her hair is long, her markings are a spiral and her medicine bundle is elder flower. I do struggle with arms as I make them to thick, I also struggle with faces and continue to watch Shelly’s videos over and over. But overall I’m so happy with her. Most importantly this is how the spirit of the doll wanted to come through. Thankyou Shelly for your teachings, they’ve been so great to learn from.
