Grateful Kids?
We all want grateful kids. Kids mostly act like us. Therefore, we need to be models of appreciation. What do you think are the best ways to help your kids witness and learn sincere gratitude?

We can model gratitude in both big and small ways. The best thing to teach gratitude is to be a truly grateful person. This requires us to consistently focus on what is good around us. There are days (or weeks or months) this can be a challenge. However, research shows gratitude to be a significant factor in overall life satisfaction and lowers symptoms of anxiety and depression. If you're already a powerful appreciator, how does that impact your parenting? If this is an area of growth for you, you might try a daily gratitude practice (diary, write thank you notes etc.). Parenting is a great way for us to be motivated to become people we really like and respect.
The 3 C's that steal your joy
Complain, criticize and compare... Which of these get you? We encourage you to watch for these for a week and monitor which ones are creeping in on your joy.

I rarely complain, that's not the one that gets me. I compare at times, but infrequently. However, I do catch myself criticizing myself and others. Criticism can and does steal my joy. I'm now on guard to squash such thoughts and protect my joy.

Doing hard things
In our family, we regularly say "We do hard things." It's like the Webber motto. Recently, I've decided to get back in shape. I've been going to the gym consistently for about 2 months. However, the healthy diet has been more difficult. Then, I came across the sardine fast. Yep, just eating sardines for 3-7 days. I'm on day 2 and I've lost 7 pounds. Now, in general, I like sardines. However, for every meal is a whole new experience. I'm committed to keep going. My goal is 195, I'm now at 225. What hard things are you working on? Or, what hard thing do you want to start tackling?
