Please Share Your Best (or worst) Onboarding Experiences
@James Blackburn brought up a great subject this morning and I want to open this up to all of you. He was curious what onboarding experiences people have actually enjoyed. We just did a Morning Show with @Artin Asghari where he talked about onboarding, but I'd still love to hear from you on your actual experiences inside communities! Maybe even what you disliked.. like what makes you decide nope I don't want to be here. (Please do not call them out tho. I don't want that type of environment here.) Also, feel free to shout anyone out who you think did an exceptional job at their onboarding process.

Worst onboarding experiences thus far.: having more than 1 thing to go do from one Dm or Welcome post, the worst have had 3 to 6 different steps, in all different parts of the community, the classroom, community post to comment on, make a new community post... blah blah blah, 1 action step per message or post, give them an easy win, a one word answer, or better yet click a poll answer. Many are brand new to Skool, they will not know how to navigate the platform. Let each step teach them 1 new skill, and leave several days between. This is not the only new thing they are doing in their life!

Skool VAT Update for European Members | Higher Price at Checkout
I want to give you a heads up on something you may start noticing, especially if you have members joining from Europe. Some European customers will now see VAT added at checkout. This can make the final price higher than what’s shown on your About page. For example, someone might see $199, but when they go to pay, the total is higher based on their country’s tax rate. The percentage is not the same for everyone. You might see 19%, 20%, 21% or other variations depending on where the customer is located. This is happening because Skool is acting as the merchant of record, which means they are required to collect VAT for many EU customers based on the customer’s location. As Andrew Kirby shared: “Your new customers will have this information on their invoice. Previous customers won't show VAT on them because Skool is responsible for VAT on all those existing payments and was paying for it out-of-pocket while we setup our system and registered for sales tax collection in the EU.” 📣 A few important things to know: This applies to EU customers, not all of Europe UK customers are not affected in the same way This applies to new customers going forward The VAT will show on their invoice Previous customers will not suddenly see VAT added to past payments The tax is based on the customer’s location, not yours This is not an extra fee being taken from you The main thing to be aware of is the buyer experience. If someone expects one price and then sees a higher total at checkout, it can create confusion or hesitation, especially if you are marketing with phrases like “ONLY $199” and that is not what they end up paying. Nothing you need to change right now, but it’s worth knowing so you are not caught off guard if someone asks. That is why I'm making this post. 👇 Have you had any members mention this yet?

Makes sense, and very generous of Skool to foot the bill while they set it up. Thank you for posting this! It's good to know. It will be good to hear other's best practices moving forward. Becaue the price will vary based on location, it may be good practice to list an approximate VAT charge and mention tht it is different for each country. However maybe just saying that the VAT charges for each country will be added at check out. Perhaps the CAT charge is common knowledge for most folks who have that in their country already?
