Share Your Biz Saturday
The first Saturday of each month, I invite all members to share their community, business, Etsy/Shopify stores, etc. Our community is growing and we have some talented and dedicated members here. Today is your day to tell us a little bit more. 🦉Who are you and who do your serve? 🔂 In 1 or 2 sentences, describe your community. 🔗 Drop a link to your about page, shop, website, etc.. Comment on 1 or 2 that interest you. Let’s support each other and build new relationships.

@Mary Nunaley Thank you for your this wonderful opportunity! I am the creator of Her Cellular Radiance. I guide midlife women from feeling tired and foggy to energized and clear with light, nourishment, and mitochondrial health without endless supplements or restrictive diets. A fun share-- I also have been teaching my now 11-year-old daughter the same principles I guide midlife women through. She often says, " I am training my mitochondria," so I feel really good. 😁

@Dan Mowinski mitochondria are like the tiny batteries in our cells that generate energy that power everything we are- heart beat, thinking, digestion….. I’d like to think of that energy as life force.or peole call it bio energy. Midichlorians from Star War are inspired by mitochondria so I heard 😆 I actually use midichlorians as an analogy during one of my talk.
Ice Cream Magic
Last week, I shared a simple homemade ice cream recipe and asked for your favorite flavors. I also teased we'd have something more in-depth and here we are. For the full activity, along with variations by age go to the Curious Kitchen Lab in the classroom and select #Ice Cream Magic Ice alone is cold, but ice mixed with salt becomes even colder. That extra drop in temperature is enough to turn a sweet liquid into creamy homemade ice cream. Gather Your Gear: Ice Cream Mixture - 120 mL (½ cup) milk, half-and-half, or a combination - 15 mL (1 tablespoon) sugar - 1.25 mL (¼ teaspoon) vanilla extract Freezing Mixture - About 700 g (3 cups) ice - 75 g (⅓ cup) table salt or coarse salt Supplies - 1 small zip-top bag - 1 large zip-top bag - Kitchen towel or oven mitts - Measuring cups and spoons - Bowls and spoons - My Science Notebook (optional) Optional toppings - Cooled caramel from From Sugar to Caramel - Sugar crystals from Crystal Makers, if prepared using food-safe materials Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly before handling food. Check both bags carefully for holes before beginning. Steps 1. Combine the milk, sugar, and vanilla in the small zip-top bag. Press out excess air and seal tightly. 2. Fill the large zip-top bag with the ice and sprinkle the salt evenly over it. 3. Place the sealed small bag inside the large bag and seal the large bag tightly. 4. Wrap the bag in a towel or use oven mitts. The outside will become very cold. 5. Shake, roll, and gently turn the bag for 5 to 10 minutes. 6. Check the ice cream. Continue shaking until it becomes thick and creamy. 7. Remove the small bag and wipe away any salty water before opening it. 8. Scoop the ice cream into bowls. Add optional toppings if desired. 9. Watch how your ice cream changes as it begins to warm.

This is a fun one!!! I remember making it with my daughter when she was very young. She was so impressed! Now I can give this to her and her friends to do. 😊
Welcome New Members
I'm thrilled to welcome some wonderful new faces to Connected Through Play! I'm also trying something new this month and changing my welcome message. I'd love to know if you prefer this style or if you would rather just be welcomed by name? I'll include your first steps to navigating the community in the comment. Let me know what you think. @Senka Kovacevic brings a background in economics and a passion for special education and Montessori she's here for practical advice for teaching her 8-year-old. @Iryna Miroshnychenko, you two share that love of hands-on, curiosity-driven learning, why not connect and swap ideas? @N Nijdam is always searching for new ways to connect with her 4-year-old and lives in Amsterdam. @Stacey Hayward has a 4-year-old and a 9-year-old and is keen for fresh inspiration. @Abs F is raising three high-energy boys and wants purposeful, safe play you three have overlapping ages and goals, so you may want to connect in the comments and share what's working! @Corrie Herrin wants to connect better with both her teenager and kindergartner a beautiful dual challenge. @Shaye Williams is homeschooling five young children and looking for creative connection ideas. @Jen Staniforth, with kids ranging 5–19, may be a perfect match for you both. You may want to check out her Skool community The Baby Sleep Skool. @Iryna Miroshnychenko teaches kids and believes every child is a genius, she's here for experiments and meaningful lessons that spark curiosity. @Hira Palla is homeschooling a toddler and newborn and needs to keep her little one entertained while learning. @Josephine Withers has an "outside flavor" toddler and wants more activities. @Jessica Senhorinha is juggling two curious builders (PreK and primary) with limited time and wants quick, ready-to-go options for real connection you three are all in the toddler/PreK zone, so team up for ideas!

Unplugged Time
Years ago, in my family, a cardboard box became “Boxy.” Not a fort, not a spaceship. Just Boxy. A four-year-old decided that was enough, and for weeks, it was. Unplugged time doesn’t usually look like the picture in your head. It’s messier and smaller and stranger than that. Long weekend or not, what does unplugged family time actually look like right now? Not the ideal version. The real one. What does it actually look like this week? Tell us what you’re doing in the comments.

My kids (daughter and niece) have been cooking breakfast and dinner everyday while we are on vacation. They are having so much fun doing it. My sister and I are also having so much fun not doing it. Then… We hiked and went to a beach. At the beach, they were busy doing sand castle or playing with dot art or chasing geese. This is the best. No one ask for screen time . 😁
🌭🍦🎆 Grills. Chills. Thrills. What's your weekend vibe?
Borrowing this from my friend Tosca with a twist. Canada Day was Wednesday. It’s Independence Day Weekend here in the states. It’s Wimbledon time in the UK and winter down under. So in the spirit of grilling, chilling, and maybe something thrilling, what does your perfect long weekend look like? Cooking out with friends and fam? Playing games with the kids? Going on an adventure? Drop it below but do it in gifs. Let’s see how many we can guess.

@Mary Nunaley it’s a Chinese singer my sister and I love since we were teenagers. We went to his concert when we were 18 and 14. this time we are taking our kids… or rather dragging our kids to his concert. We are re living our childhood memories. 🤣
