Today's Reflection
Stop Glorifying Burnout As Ambition Somewhere along the way, many of us started believing that being constantly exhausted was a sign of success. The longer we worked... The less we slept... The busier we looked... ...the more ambitious we appeared. But what if we've been celebrating the wrong thing all along? 👈

Yes indeed. I find that the commonly used definitions of success are the worst at providing what we truly need to live an amazing life we love. It's all in the metrics we use to measure success. Shifting the metrics that are most important to a life of meaning changes our choices so we can let go of what is not serving our life desires.

@Donald Cooper precisely. Everyone's metrics are unique to them. The more people lock into their own success metrics the better they are at achieving them.
Finding Community In A Connected World
Can I share something with you? We live in the most connected time in history. We can message anyone within seconds. Join communities from anywhere in the world. Follow thousands of people online. Yet many adults still quietly struggle with loneliness. I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and it inspired me to write this week's Digital Restart Journey reflection. **Finding Community in a Connected World** It's not about getting more followers or collecting more contacts. It's about finding the people who make you feel accepted, understood, and that you truly belong. If you've ever felt lonely despite being surrounded by people, or you're trying to rebuild your social circle during a new season of life, I hope this reflection encourages you. I'd love for you to read it here: https://williamsiong.substack.com/p/finding-community-in-a-connected As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts after you've read it. Have a wonderful day. — William

Thank you for the reflection and the article. Now I get where restarting is happening for me at this time of my life's journey. I lived in large cities, in big corporate job roles, massive projects. Leading impossible challenges. And there has been a sorta community that has kept showing up with whom I feel connected. But now, Those connections have changed and we no longer have the same context. We love each other and will always be there for each other. At the same time when I left that world behind and started travelling a new pathway in Rural Canada, getting married and changing my identity, building a brand new career and also a community, my relationships have changed and I'm restarting community creation yet again. I'm like you in my desire for a community of meaningful connections and conversations where deep unfolding and shared support exist. A place where we each belong and contribute our shared brilliance. It is a restart. It is an adventure.
Using AI Without Losing Your Thinking
I want to share something honestly, not as advice or instruction — just a reflection from my own experience using AI. At one point, I found myself wondering: Am I relying on AI too much? Is it making me sharper… or quietly dulling my thinking? That question matters — especially if you’re restarting, relearning, or experimenting with AI on your own. Here’s what I eventually realised. AI does NOT lower our intelligence. What it changes is the interface — the way ideas are expressed, paced, and unpacked. There’s an important difference between: - depth of understanding, and - how that understanding is explained or explored A good human mentor doesn’t speak in complex language just to sound smart. They know the terrain, and they choose the right entry point. AI, when used well, can play a similar role — not by thinking for us, but by helping us think with less friction. What made me pause wasn’t that things became easier to understand. It was the old belief that learning must feel difficult to be real. But clarity is not “dumbing down”. Clarity is compression without distortion. I’ve come to see AI as a thinking partner, not a replacement: - It helps surface ideas - It helps name things I already sensed - It helps me organise thoughts I’m still forming And importantly, it doesn’t cap growth. If I want deeper theory, academic framing, or more challenge, I can always ask for it. There’s no ceiling unless I impose one myself. So if you’re feeling skeptical, cautious, or unsure about using AI in your daily work or thinking, you’re not wrong to question it. The key isn’t whether you use AI. It’s 👉 how consciously you use it. For me, the goal isn’t speed or cleverness. It’s understanding that actually sticks. Take what resonates. Leave the rest. #AI & Thinking

totally agree with you on this. AI has been honing my thinking and it allows me to explore even more ideas while, at the same time, helping me articulate what I have always believed but had difficulty explaining. And, it allows my imagination to fly free, creating what I envision in ways I don't have talent or skills in. And it makes me refine my thinking in more comprehensive ways. So much joy!
