Day 4 hit differently. Today wasn't really about speaking, books, events, courses, or coaching. It was about identity. Dr. Sonja challenged us to write a check to ourselves. I wrote: Shanelle Simmons 5/28/2026 $1,000,000 Then she asked us to compare that number to our current reality. They don't match. That was the point. The version of me who earns that check doesn't exist yet. She is becoming. One of the biggest lessons from today was that speaking is not the destination. It is the foundation. A speaker with a revenue-generating talk can build an entire ecosystem: • Speaking • Books • Events • Courses • Coaching/Consulting The income isn't created by one stage. It is created by what the stage leads to. What challenged me most wasn't the numbers. It was the language. Not "if this works." WHEN it works. Not "if I get into the room." WHEN I get into the room. Not "if I implement." WHEN I implement. Identity before performance. There is a version of me that has to die so another version can live. The story that stuck with me today was about an eagle raised among birds. It spent its life doing what everyone around it did because it didn't know it was built for something different. One day another eagle landed in front of it and said, "Trust the process. Let me show you how to fly." That landed hard. Sometimes we want guarantees before we take action. But are we willing to guarantee that we'll do the work? Today reminded me that people are paying to solve problems every day. The question isn't whether people invest in transformation. The question is whether I'm willing to become the person capable of delivering it. Day 4 takeaway: Borrow confidence until you build your own. Then flap your wings.
Right now I have them in list form and soon I will be making contact. That is farther than I was before. So valuable to have the push in the right direction with a guide. I wrote a book, recruited backers, built a business around the books message and framework and then stalled. The timing for this is right on time.
What a day?! Target the Right Stages What are your biggest take-aways? HOMEWORK!!! -Create your Dream 25 -Search for the point of Contact -Pitch Yourself as their keynote speaker See you tomorrow for Day 3
Homework assignment from Day 2 was the push I needed. I already had a working outreach list, but Dr. Sonja’s challenge kicked my actions into overdrive. It took me the evening to come up with 25, and I ended up generating a list of 35. I ran out of daylight before I could track down all the speaker contacts, so that sounds like my Day 3 assignment on top of whatever we have today. This experience confirmed that having a coach and a clear framework is definitely in order.
