Head gasket failure again
So long story short(well semi short). I bought my truck way back in August now previous owner did a head gasket roughly forty Thousand kms before I bought the truck and with in 24 hours of owing I blew the gasket so after a couple months of denial, I replaced it in December took my head to a machine shop local and they said it was blown on 4-5 5-6 steam port and they took some off, they didn't specify. I put it all together with a oe Cummins gasket and after 3 weeks of driving it under boost and high rpm I head gasket chatter and coolant blowing everywhere. The block was straight when I had the head off. What's my best option ie just replace the gasket, replace the head with a known good one. I'm leaning towards just replacing the head but want your guys opinion. And yes the truck is tune and deleted and it has a mini max v1 and the truck has 411,000k on it

@Eric Fuller Damn. 320grit? I was about to hit mine and work up to 600 grit. Good thing I didn’t start yet.
Is this concerning?
The block has some low spots around coolant passages. Thoughts?

That was really helpful, @Robert Winkworth. I am pretty sure the shop checked my block deck for flatness. That said, can I do this method at home to remove a few thou? The MLS gasket is pretty awesome, but I worry about further erosion around the coolant passages. So I want as much mating surface as possible to prevent that. If I am thinking about it right. Maybe not. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@Robert Winkworth Just need to weld the handle on and we will be good to go.
Question before I do final assembly
The top end was rebuilt new spring rockers and valves stock push rods new oil pump. I have to set valve lash and prime the oil system. What is the best way to ensure oil is were it needs to be. Tips and tricks to prime the oil. Also is there a way to test the oil cooler or am I better off buying a new one.

Would blocking off fuel and bumping the starter a few times get some oil circulating? I would think It wouldn’t take much. As for the oil cooler, you are already in this deep. Why not get a new one if you have the extra $? Especially on a high mileage motor.

@Richard Balder trust me, I get it. That’s why we are all here. Lol
To port or not to port?
New valves, new seats, new springs… It is so nice and shiny. Initially, I was planning on taking a Dremel to do some polishing to the intake runners. I was also thinking of lapping the valves as well. But maybe fuck all that and just leave well enough alone…

@Eric Fuller i know fluid dynamics of the swirl plays a big part, too. But I would suspect it would be really easy to screw that up.
12v inspection good thing we did
Well this engine belongs to @Claude Lafond This right here is the part of the reason I show people and want to help. No need for this to happen to a guy. But fear not we will get him fixed up https://youtu.be/c0G9Ey0O4eU?si=tnMbBoB6cOWWlUOf

I share your philosophy on this, Rob. People pay good money to get a good product. I get infuriated thinking about how many times this probably happens. @Claude Lafond’s motor had some obvious problems, and like you said, he was lucky he brought it to you before it blew up. I can’t help but think about the countless people who are getting ripped off, but the job was done decent enough to not need a rebuild. Believing they got a performance cam, or coated pistons, etc, but just got some reused junk. Grinds my gears (literally)
