Catching design clashes before the excavators arrive 🛑
Hey team, glad to connect with this group. I’m Sedolf, a surveyor and engineering management student specializing in UAV photogrammetry and LiDAR site mapping. As construction managers, you're constantly caught between tight schedules and messy site realities. One workflow we've been implementing to cut down on RFIs is generating highly accurate 3D point clouds of the raw site and overlaying the engineer's CAD/BIM model directly on top of it on Day One. On a recent warehouse project in Ghana, doing this allowed us to spot a structural layout clash with an existing utility corridor that the original design team completely missed on their flat drawings. Catching it digitally saved about two weeks of potential downtime and zero-dollar rework. For those running active jobs right now: What is the most frustrating design error you’ve had to solve in the field this year that could have been caught with better upfront site data?
Hello from West Africa! Glad to connect 🚀
Hey everyone, Just jumped into the Construction Contractors Hub today and wanted to quickly introduce myself. My name is Sedolf Bernard Samevi, a Geomatic Engineer based in Ghana. I run Sedzie Survey Engineering, where we specialize in precise survey controls, heavy civil/construction layouts, and large-scale topographic mapping for construction, mining, and logistics projects. Lately, our team has been doing a lot of heavy lifting with drone surveying—specifically leveraging LiDAR payloads for fast, accurate site characterization. We recently completed a 200-acre LiDAR project, and we're currently setting up engineering and logistics workflows for broader operations across Africa. Beyond the fieldwork, I’m an Engineering Management student, so I’m deeply focused on the intersection of advanced site tech and business efficiency. I'm excited to dive into the threads here to learn about the systems you all use to keep your projects on track and discuss how modern geomatics can streamline field operations. If anyone ever has questions about drone mapping, point clouds, or site layouts, I’d love to connect and talk shop! Let's build together!
