October in CLEAR Practice Lab: Presentations 🎤
This October, CLEAR Practice Lab is focused on PRESENTATIONS. We’re building the regulation, structure, delivery, and confidence to present clearly without freezing, rushing, rambling, or losing your authentic voice. Here’s how the month will flow: Week 1: Regulate + Riff We begin with the nervous system, then practice speaking on a topic with minimal preparation using a simple structure: headline, beginning, middle, and ending. Week 2: Organize It We’ll strengthen your headline, key ideas, flow, and what you want your audience to remember. Week 3: Deliver It We’ll practice pacing, pauses, vocal emphasis, eye contact, body language, filler words, transitions, and connection. Week 4: Present With Authority You’ll bring it all together through live presentation practice, coaching, feedback, adjustment, and another rep. This is not four weeks of lectures. You will actually speak, practice, receive coaching, make adjustments, and practice again. That’s what the Lab is for. 🎯 Do you have a presentation, pitch, training, talk, meeting, or something else coming up that you want to practice this month? Comment and tell me what you’re preparing for. I’m also considering offering a separate live Presentation Intensive for people who want additional presentation practice and coaching. If that’s something you’d be interested in, let me know in the comments.

People-Pleasing Can Feel Like Protection
I’m a recovering people pleaser. People-pleasing is not God’s will for us, but for many of us, it developed as a trauma response, a way to protect ourselves after what we experienced in the past. Healing can look like choosing to do only what you genuinely want to do, what you are able to do, or what God has instructed you to do. You do not have to manage everyone’s feelings or protect yourself by saying yes to everything. Trust God to protect you when you honor your capacity, your boundaries, and His direction. Where are you learning to stop people-pleasing?

That is a meaningful boundary, Eva. Using your bandwidth as the deciding factor helps you respond from capacity instead of pressure. Before you say yes, try pausing and asking yourself, “Can I do this and still remain consistent with what I’m already responsible for?” That pause gives you room to choose instead of automatically accommodating.
What would you say?
You’re in a work meeting. Someone suggests handling a project in a way you disagree with, then turns to you and asks, “What do you think?” You feel yourself start to freeze. What would you actually say? Write your response in the comments. Use words that sound like you.

This is strong, Eva. You acknowledged the other person’s idea, offered a different direction, and brought the focus back to the shared goal. That lets you disagree without sounding dismissive. I’d only tighten it slightly: “I like that approach. What do you think about starting from this angle first so we stay focused on the right thing?” Clear, collaborative, and direct.
Regulate, then speak
Before your next conversation or response, take three rounds of 4-2-6 breathing: Inhale for 4. Hold for 2. Exhale for 6. Then make one point and let it land. Notice your pace, your access to your words, and the urge to rush or over-explain. What changed when you regulated before you spoke?

What did you do differently?
Think about one real conversation you had recently. What did you do differently? Maybe you spoke when you usually stay quiet, paused instead of rushing, made one point and let it land, stayed in an awkward moment, initiated, set a boundary, or said what you actually meant. The win does not have to be dramatic. What changed?
