Micro-Challenge: Two Practices This Week
This week’s micro-challenge: Practice at least twice — even 10–15 minutes counts. When you’ve done it, comment “done” to check in and keep the momentum going. Let’s build steady, quiet progress together.

Comdey Piano
I just thought some of you would enjoy this clip. If you know the Marx Brothers you will remember that Chico was a great pianist. But you might be too young to know them. https://youtu.be/Zz1xUbJprCw?si=CzMWLphccOL02Be-

I would love to be able to play that piece
Pausing my practice
Just come back from holiday and prior to that had about a week where my job/work load had increased substantially, so in all not touched the piano for best part of two weeks. I did have one opportunity to play the piano at one of Berlin’s train stations on Thursday and struggled to remember the piece “Scarborough Fair” fully. I think it is because I didn’t have the sheet music in front of me, or maybe I just don’t have a good memory. But could it be that I haven’t realised how ingrained in my learning is reading music. I thought I relied on muscle memory but maybe it’s not just that!

I think it’s my self defense mechanism that kicks in
🎵 Tell Us How You’re Getting On — Inspire a Fellow Learner
If you’ve been finding your piano journey a little clearer, calmer, or more enjoyable since joining the Circle, I’d love to hear your thoughts. It doesn’t have to be long — even a few sentences can really help someone who’s sitting on the fence about getting started. Your words show others that progress is possible — and that they’re not alone in figuring it out. As a small thank-you, I’ve put together another little musical gift for anyone who leaves a short review — something simple and encouraging to keep your practice flowing. 🎁 👉 Just DM me and I’ll send over the quick review links (takes about 5 minutes). Thank you so much for helping keep this community growing and grounded — it means more than you think. 🙏 — Benedict

That an interesting question. I think it’s a combination of a couple of things: my acceptance that playing and practicing slower is positive, and the group has opened my eyes to the obvious point that I am not the only person struggling with learning to play the piano. As the group grows and we get more contributors I think we will all benefit.
Introducing Victoria
Hi everyone, I’m a returning piano player looking to up my game in playing by ear. I came to realise that all I really wanted to do was sit down at the piano and play pieces I know and love with confidence! I sing too, so aim to accompany myself a bit more too.
