@Wendy L There is, don't worry!
Project #1: Twilly!
Hello all! Here is my first attempt at the twilly. (I think my "before" picture shows last here, despite my attempt to order them chronologically!) This is a woolen top with some sparkly bits woven through that I used to wear to work sometimes. I always thought it was a bit too long and slightly difficult to pull on and off because of the shape of the shoulders. I packed it away several years ago intending to alter it. As you can see in the pics, I shortened the bodice and removed the sleeves. I recut the armscyes slightly bigger under the arm and on the front, but not the back. Because there is a lining, finishing was tricky. I ended up using bias binding on the armscyes (I couldn't figure out how to do a burrito method). The bottom hem was a little easier to finish with my machine and some hand sewing, if a bit clumsy. I used the material I cut off the bodice for my twilly, about 70" long and 1" wide. I used the lining on one side and the fashion fabric on the other since the fashion fabric is a little scratchy and thick. Because the fashion fabric is a little thick, it might have been better at a slightly wider width. I wanted to use tassels for the ends but wasn't able to find any at my local fabric store, but I did find some pretty amber/black rosettes at my local creative reuse center, so I used that when I styled the twilly as a choker. I also have styled the twilly in my hair which I think I like as the fabric has some sparkly in it that picks up the silver in my hair.

Hello πŸ‘‹ I'm Scarlett, the Converted Closet Media Manager and Producer. ✨ My experience is that I know some basics of sewing, but I've never made or designed an outfit or used a sewing machine (I was literally born to film, edit, and post videos). πŸ₯Ή I hope you guys like the Tester Classroom Draft Video, I'm looking forward to the feedback and your introductions in the community post. Email testergroup@convertedcloset.com with any questions. You're all making Kate and I very happy πŸ™‚β€β†•οΈ Also my profile picture is my bird in a bee costume 🐝, and her name is Quinoa and she's 5 months old! 🐦 Thank you!!! 😊 Scarlett 🌟

WELCOME TO CONVERTED CLASSROOM
Hi there! I'm so excited to see you here, and I'm a little nervous, to be honest!!! This is a brand new adventure for me too, and I'm so happy I've got you guys alongside to help me make these game-changing classes as fantastic as I possibly can. As you may have gathered, I have rather high standards (sometimes to a fault! I call my inner perfectionist "Pricilla") - and I cannot help but put everything I've got into everything I do. These classes will be the most important thing I've ever created as they have enormous potential to impact people's behaviour around clothing consumption. I've always found it so ironic that the unique clothes we all want, can be created through us learning a skill - spending huge amounts is NOT necessary! You'll see... It would be so cool if everyone introduced themselves as a community post!! Scarlett and I are dying to meet you all, and hear about where you're at in your sewing journey at the moment (Scarlett is my Right Hand Woman - and Editor extraordinaire btw!). One last thing - in the final version of Conversion Classroom, the videos will be broken down into sections that will be easier to navigate (I PROMISE), but for this one, the sections are all in one video - so after you watched the first section, you're going to need to take a big break to find a garment to convert, and plan your twilly dimensions, etc. All of this will be clear when you watch the video, but I thought I'd flag it up for extra clarification! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for watching this (and bearing with me!), I am indescribably appreciative of your time and attention. (You REALLY are at the leading edge of a fashion changing movement!). Lots of love, Kate xxx
