☕️❤️ WELL, LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE A WEEKLY DATE. (🎉 🥳🎉)
Introducing 38 Minutes with Christi aka The Long Distance Mimi You know all those conversations we've been having in the comments? I've been thinking we need to get together and actually TALK about this stuff. Live. Face to face (if you want). With actual humans. 😂 Real conversations. Real questions. Real, actionable ideas. And the goal? To figure out how to make our relationships and our lives EASIER, BETTER, and a whole lot more FUN. HERE'S OUR FIRST FOUR TUESDAYS: 🏡 NOV 3: Moving Closer or Moving Away? What Nobody Tells You... Should you stay? Should you go? Will moving closer actually make you closer? Let's talk BEFORE somebody buys a house. 😂 🎄 NOV 10: The Holidays: Whose Turn Is It Anyway? Whose house? Whose year? Who's disappointed? And how do we stop making assumptions nobody agreed to? ❤️ NOV 17: Can You Build a Life You Love AND Stay Close to Your Family? Your adult kids are busy building their lives. You're allowed to have one, too. Let's figure out what that actually looks like. 💌 NOV 24: Long-Distance Grandparenting: The Hard Parts AND the Good Stuff The missed moments, the visits, the airport goodbyes, the laughs, and creative ways to stay connected without living down the street. SO WHAT AM I BRINGING TO THE PARTY? I'm fascinated by human behavior. Why we think what we think. Why we say things we probably shouldn't. Why we get our feelings hurt over something nobody actually promised us. And YES, that includes my own behavior. I've given myself plenty of material to study. 😂 🧠 Brain science nerd with 25+ years of experience in adult learning and behavior change. 💍 16 years as a mother-in-law. And yes, I've learned a thing or two. ❤️ 14 years as a Mimi. Best gig ever. 👩‍❤️‍👩 Navigating the mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationship. Made mistakes. Learned plenty. 👯‍♀️ Friends with the OTHER grandma. Yep, it can happen. 😂 🏡 Lived close to my adult kids and grandkids. Been there. 🚐 Moved 1,800 miles away. Done that, too. So yeah, I've got a few things to contribute to these conversations. 😂

Christi I’m so upset as I now have my grandson tomorrow full day. Originally thought I had tomorow Thursday and Friday off but although kids are off from school my daughter being a teacher has professional day so she’s not off. Depending on how he is at the time I may it may not be able to come on. This is a perfect reason as to why I feel the way I have felt these last 3 yrs living near my daughter. It’s telling me things last minute and I’m then left scrambling to make things happen. Have drs appts that I’m constantly rescheduling because of situations like this. Anyway hoping I can meet you all.

I have mentioned this to my daughter so many times, to please let me know things ahead of time. Apparently on the school calendar when it says students are off it doesn’t always mean the teachers are also off but that’s when she needs to say that these days are for teachers meetings and / or these are real days off. And yes that’s how I’ve felt these last 3 yrs that I’m permanently on call. This is why it resonated with me when Kim mentioned about losing herself; it’s what I’ve been feeling and it’s how I know I need to make a change.
Should we make this community private? 🔒
Hi GrandFriends! 💛 Something has been on my mind lately. I’ve noticed more women reaching out to me privately to share things they’re uncomfortable posting publicly. And a big reason? They’re worried their adult kids or other family members might see what they’ve said. I get it! Family relationships can be complicated, and sometimes you just want to talk things through with women who understand, without worrying about who’s reading it. And it got me thinking about our community here. What if we made it private? 🔒 Right now, our community is public, meaning people can see our posts and conversations without joining. If we switch to private, only approved members would be able to see what’s shared inside. People would need to join to read our conversations. It wouldn’t guarantee complete confidentiality, but it would give us more privacy and hopefully make everyone feel more comfortable speaking openly. I’d love to know what you think! I’ll leave this poll open through Friday, November 6. Then I’ll review your responses, make a decision, and let everyone know what we’re doing before anything changes. Your comfort matters to me, and I want this to be a place where we can have the conversations that matter. ❤️

Oh had no idea this was public. Yes I want it to be private as my daughters are on social media.
❤️Hi, I’m Christi and it’s So Nice to Meet You!
It’s been a minute… Some of you know me as the Long Distance Mimi, but there’s a little more to my story! I’m 67, married to Mike, mom to Mikey and my daughter Janelle, whom we lost to cancer in 2001 when she was just 17. I’m also Mimi to Carter and Chloe, who live in Nebraska while we’re in beautiful Washington State. I love traveling, learning, trying new things, and figuring out what I want to be when I grow up. Still working on that one! A little about my professional background. I’ve spent more than 25 years working in adult learning, personal development, and behavior change. I’m certified in Tiny Habits, CliftonStrengths, coaching, and change management. I also graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University at 53. Yep, I’m a lifelong learner! Here’s what I believe. We can keep growing, changing, making friends, and having adventures at ANY age. And I know a thing or two about helping people turn good intentions into action. I’m not a therapist. I’m a guide on the side who believes we learn by DOING. We try things, see what works, and adjust. Because failure is data! That’s what I want Reignite Your Life to be. A place for friendship, fun, adventure, new ideas, and women who aren’t done living their lives! You can love your family deeply AND build a life of your own that you love. ❤️ Now, let’s hear about YOU! What’s something you’d love to try, do, or experience in this chapter of your life? Christi ❤️ Your Long Distance Mimi

Christi Thank you so much for sharing such personal parts of your life with us. I’m so very sorry for all the suffering you and your family have experienced. Know that my prayers are with you all. I’m so so sorry that you lost your daughter Janelle. When I read it ; my heart sank. I immediately thought of how ironic life was that every where I turn and meet new people ; when we begin to share we all have stories of such sufferings. I know there is a reason we were all meant to meet. Im so thankful for you and all that you are doing for us. Life is very hard and it’s been rollercoaster of a ride. My faith is what keeps me strong and moving forward. Trying hard to keep focused on each moment ; the present and to not look back and not worry about the future. I too worked in the medical field for 25 yrs. I worked as a Business Director for Surgery Centers. Love that you went back to school; it’s something I’ve been doing slowly with taking courses online and it was a confirmation to me to keep going until I get that degree Thank you. And yes I want to keep growing and have new adventures as well. For sure. 🙏🤗

@Christi Perillo thank you so much for your support. Christi yes you are absolutely right that speaking of our loss loved ones keeps them alive. Something my cousins wife has mentioned numerous times and I totally agree. Would love to know more about Janelle. She was for sure a blessed child to have you as her Mom. God bless you.

@Kim Daniels I agree. I don’t feel so alone knowing that other people are experiencing the same. I wish so much we weren’t though. I guess the way I was raised is what I thought I’d have in my life with my kids and grandkids and the world is just not the same and our kids aren’t like us. Not only were my parents and grandparents a part of my everyday life so were my aunts uncles and cousins. Although my kids saw that growing up it’s just not a part of their everyday life. It’s sad. But as you say I want to live life and start enjoying as well. I’m also looking to move back. We’ve been here 3 1/2 yrs and it was only to be near our daughter and grandabby and it’s been so hard as we’ve never felt like this is home. It’s not a place I would have chosen to live. My 90 yo mom keeps begging me to come back where she is and my sisters and families are and I’m just asking Gods guidance as I feel torn but I know it’s what makes the most sense for us for so many reasons. I miss my drs and church and friends and ministries that I had. I’m so happy to have found this website and glad to meet you. There comes a time we have to be selfish and do what’s best for us.

@Kim Daniels omg sending you hugs Kim. Yes our childhood was so special because of family. Thought I had instilled that in my girls. I know they were happy with the way we did holidays but then they got married. CAnt believe how that changed it all. I decided I can’t be angry anymore and I just want to be at peace and be happy to be around my kids and grandbabies. It’s not always easy. Glad I’m part of this new community. 🤗
