Hi and my current use cases
Howdy y'all! I've been using Claude as a coach for a little over a year now and really enjoying it (have used it for a couple of 50K's and a 50 miler). I also work as an ML Engineer professionally and use Claude Code, Codex, etc. in that capacity quite a bit. (1) On coaching -- I have been creating a project for each training block. If training for a specific race, I'll upload a description of the course, any race reports I can find, and any info the RD posts. I do also upload notes from a training book (e.g. Koop's book). Then chat with Opus to create a plan. Each week, I start a new thread for the week ahead and upload FIT files so it can analyze how well I'm hitting the workouts. At the end of the week, I generate a summary of the week and save that back to project knowledge. If I ever need to make major adjustments, I spin up a new Opus thread. I did try using Fable for this today but actually didn't notice significant quality increase; perhaps Opus is smart enough :) (2) Another relevant tool I've built: I have a script to download and transcribe every episode of a few training podcasts. I also have a small RAG application on top of these that I can use to search for relevant episodes if I have a specific training question. This was more of a curiosity; you could get the RAG part for free by letting Claude Code loose in a directory of transcripts. But I did find this super helpful when I was figuring out iron deficiency! Lots of good info in a few podcasts that made it helpful to get a good protocol set up for myself. Curious to learn more what folks have been doing that's made a difference for their training. See y'all around!

I could definitely automate the manual upload, but I haven't found a way to integrate with the standard/existing Claude app. I do really like using the stock, first-party app (mostly because it uses my subscription pricing without having to break ToS) I've just been using the OpenAI whisper Python library for it! I've also found for YouTube videos I can get by with free online tools (as Google already has a great STT model and the closed captions are API accessible). They seem to be a dime a dozen when you search "YouTube transcript download".
