Seiwakai Seminar
The last two days in Sydney training with Fujiwarra Hanshi has been exhausting physically and mentally. 7 hours yesterday and 5 the day before, minimal breaks and intense training takes you to another level. Sessions like these challenge you to keep focussed, to keep pushing and force you to find your limits and go beyond. Getting to 9.29 pm last night working on Suparinpei and Hanshi says ā€˜mo Ichi do’ . It took every last piece of energy to perform it at full focus and intensity. Forcing us to rise to his expectation. This is what a great instructor does. Very grateful to be able to learn from Hanshi. Looking forward to today’s rest day before the weekends training starting tomorrow morning.

New Dan grades
Congratulations to Luke Sensei, and Sabre for achieving their Nidan. And to Sarah for achieving her Shodan. Best of luck to her this coming weekend with her JKF testing for Shodan as well.

Best of luck, you guys are ready and have done the work. Its awesome to have some of club members moving into the higher ranks. Keep up the great work. Sensei. For those that don't know them, below second on my right is Luke, then Sabre then on my left is Sarah.

Training this week - how did you do?
Years ago I learned a principle called CANI. It stands for constant and never ending improvement. The Japanese have something similar called Shuhari. (I’ll let you look it up but it it basically describes the three stages of learning) The reason I talk about this today is after my own training this week I realise there is so much more to go, not necessarily to learn but to improve. After this many years of training it’s rare I learn something I haven’t heard before but it doesn’t mean I am anywhere near where I should be or want to be with the understanding and implementation of such knowledge. Hence the CANI principle. What did you learn or re-hear this week and where can you improve specifically? Leave a comment and let me know. sensei sam
