i'm not really much of a gardener, but the more i'm in my garden/s and have the opportunity to observe nature, the more i'm enjoying the garden space and all the opportunities it offers. this year we didn't have much time/energy to do weeding over the summer~ and weeds get really out of control in japan. i'll try find pics it was a jungle. we did a little bit toward autumn just to make space to move, during which i discovered how some plants were surviving underneath because of the bigger weeds over the top, protecting them from the sun, and from the frost now that it's winter. so i went out today to pick the sorrel, and not only is there an insane amount (it's just growing naturally as a weed), i also found some kind of citrus tree has taken root on its own (last pic). you can see here how the exposed bunches have started to go red from frost, whereas the ones protectes by weeds are lush and green. abundance is real if we're there for it yall.
