Ah rings, I remember a great article about them from The Art of Manliness

I haven't posted much here due to lack of getting my outfit game at a higher level (and work from home). I more often post in The Society of Ordinary Gents, since it's more of a catch-all for everything gentleman lifestyle related, rather than focusing on fashion. Most of us originally came from the GentZ Lobby/Lounge. Back on topic, my relatively inexpensive outfit is proof you don't need to dress like a slob (or as I often call it, the "homeless ex-convict" style I see here on the west coast - not disparaging those who actually suffer from either stigma; there are charities for that). While it did encourage me to stand with a better posture, it was comfortable enough in general. - Jacket: J. Ferrar/J. Ver; bought from Burlington Coat Factory around 2015 ($80 set with trousers) - Shirt: Alex Vando Seersucker striped button-down from Amazon ($20) - Tie: Ron Chereskin (original)/Scott Allan (closest equivalent), around $10 back in 2014 - Tie clip: "Swank" brand; inherited from my grandfather - Shoes: Bruno Marc double monk-strap ($30-$40) - SOTD: Stetson Black cologne ($22 for 3.4oz bottle), Bleu de Chanel aftershave lotion (set with cologne, $100 back in 2022), Stetson deodorant ($18 for 3-pack)

@Matthew Murdock I'm also considering getting a shirt similar to that, but with light blue stripes... perhaps even a penny collar. After all, I am planning to dress like a Peaky Blinder for Halloween ;-)

@Matthew Murdock Going a little beyond the clothing style of Peaky Blinders, I highly recommend the YouTube channel "The Masculine Home". I'll link a video here of a home redone with the Peaky Blinders aesthetic in mind.
Lack of Posts
I wanted to apologize for my lack of posts recently. A friend that owned another community passed away suddenly and I was asked to start a new room so that we can keep what he started alive since we don't have access to the admin side of the original room. That has just taken up the majority of my time.

@Stephen Arnold Indeed! Long live S/OG
Are you connected to you cellphone
Good afternoon gentlemen, Have you gone to a store or a restaurant and while you are trying to order, pay for something, or ask a question you see that person on their phone? Or maybe you go somewhere and you look around and in a room full of people everyone is on their cellphone? Better yet you are walking down the street or in a mall and all you see is people walking looking at their cellphones? How many of you seen videos of people walking looking things or falling into water because they are distracted. As many of you know I started this section of my journey of being a gentleman with de digitizing my life. And one thing I have done was rely less on my cellphone in my day to day task. But I see so many people that live by their cellphones. They cannot go 15 minutes without looking at their cellphones. My daughter got in trouble and had her cellphone taken away when she was like 14 yrs. (Mind you I felt she was too young for one, but her mother thought otherwise ) but she was in her room and instead of coming into the den to talk to me she sent me a text. Now mind you we are in the same house and like maybe 60-70 feet away. I told her we do not communicate that way. Go to Walmart and you see cashiers on employees on the floor can’t even work because they are on their cellphones. There was a time when a person left their house to go to work and you did not talk to them until they got home in the evening. And even then unless they had an answering machine, you had to wait till you see them to talk to them for them to know you were looking for them. Gentlemen don’t let your cellphone run your life. Do not let the communication device cost your job. Do not become dependent on your cellphone to where you cannot function without it.

@Matthew Murdock "People get nervous if I don't seem connected." I've observed this, too... and I've been the black sheep for so long that I just lean harder into it. I proudly proclaim when the topic comes up that I left all traditional social media in 2020. That I only use forums and YouTube to grow and learn with a side of entertainment and look forward to my non-digital hobbies. Funny thing, though... after the initial shock and awe of standing your ground and defying the social norm, eventually, some people flock to you; knowing you have a spine and the confidence to be honest despite the risk of rejection.
