Take the A-Train bass
I didn't realize that I could write here instead so the introduction is about a minute. The bass ukulele is a godsend in this case since I don't have a bass amp here, but the rubber strings feel somewhat sticky and the frets are sooo close together so it's really easy to do some hiccups. I think it sounds nice all in all.

@Elias Ryberg Eli! That was great. You really get the idea. it is robotic but it’s not about being musical. It’s mechanical, working on your subconscious motion, which we want when we improvise. So now the goal is to want that to be part of our subconscious playing. I would get a metronome, put on 2 and 4, start at tempo that’s comfortable, and get it slowly built up to an up tempo feel. And then do it 3 other keys if you can. You’re just ingraining those motions so that you don’t have to think about it solo much. Maybe even taking a 2nd tune, which we can focus on next week. I would also spend a section of practice playing these ideas and finding musical moments to create space. And then blend small melodic movements that feel vocalized and embellished like Ella Fitzgerald or frank Sinatra or background horn sections of a big band supporting a vocalist. You are correct too. It is first and second ending. And one bar of Gm7 C7 is called a measure of ii V (using Roman numeral). Last thing, I’ll play a solo next week on Monday that you can take and transcribe. I’m thinking what might be fun is taking a tune and writing out a roadmap of thought process over a chart and then you can listen to me solo and see what I have to think about when I attempt it. I hope that makes sense. Again, great job. You understood the assignment. Just remember have fun, be curious, discover, and think about what else can you create from what you have. Soloing is composition in real time. It’s not about learning licks and ideas. It’s about learning them and then discovering what those ideas bring out in you that makes you excited to keep playing. Hope this helps and hopefully see you Monday.

@Elias Ryberg sounds great Eli. Once I put up a new one and you learn it. Try to record with playing along with that audio. Would love to hear how close you can match up to it
Update
Hello all! Will be hosting a Q&A zoom call on Monday. Link should be in the calendar tab under July 13. Sorry I was not able to put up an exercise. Currently on a musical gig run and juggling 2 shows. But I will try my best to put something up still this week. Just might be late. Hope to see you guys on Monday.

No worries. I’ll have one every week. Will submit sometime this week when next Q&A will be.
Tip of the day - July 9
Improvisation isn’t about thinking fast. It’s about hearing first.

Tip of the day - Happy July 4th
Hope everyone has a good one. One tip is don’t forget to rest. Taking a break at least one day out of the week is actually really good for your musical growth.
