As many of you know i’m in the process of making some TIG welding courses for all of you. My priority for these courses is that they provide you more value than you pay for them but that they are also affordable enough that you can get access to them which can be tough due to the nature of this trade. I don’t want to price my courses too high and then you can’t afford the equipment you need. I asked what you could afford to pay for the course on its own and I appreciated your feedback back but i’m going to be adding some other options for getting access to the courses. Here are my current ideas. You will be able to get access to only the course for a one time payment. OR You will be able to pay a lower monthly price to get access to the course, discounts on material and equipment, and access to monthly or weekly Q&A calls with me. Please vote do you prefer a one time price for course only, or a lower monthly price with added features. If you want the one time price vote for “one time price”. If you want the lower monthly price with added features please select the price you could afford or would be willing to pay for the course and added benefits. The more you’re able to afford per month the more benefits I can provide to you. Thank you all!

I went with the 25-50 option. While the one time price sounds good "on paper" it comes with a few concerns that bother me. First, is my budget... right now it sucks because I don't really have one to work with. The second is the whole recurring income thing. i KNOW how much work good quality videos are to make. Even just short community engagement videos take a level of effort that should be compensated... if that makes sense...
Shop Tip 🔥
55 gallon drums are like Gold in my opinion. For me they seem kind of hard to find but maybe i’m just not looking hard enough. I have been needing a scrap bin to replace the pile of scrap metal in the corner of my shop and now I have one. Also good for big garbage cans. I want to eventually have one for each material (stainless, aluminum, titanium, mild steel) or even something bigger because if you keep them separate you can sell the scrap for a higher price rather than just regular “scrap rate”. In business some people call this the sawdust which means taking waste from your process and turn it into profit. Who wants more info like this?

When I couldn't find any good heavy duty steel barrels, I opted for a couple heavy duty galvanized trash cans. Where I am at the farmers tend to keep their barrels. Any that were for sale cost as much as the trash cans I opted for.

@Grant Pratt The nice thing is that if you have to store your recyclable scrap outside like I did, your containment vessel doesn't rust out as fast as the scrap you're saving. Just have to remember to burn a couple of drainage holes in the bottom.

Here is my plan for the new year and I want YOU to do it with me! I’ve got over 250 people here in this group, 90% of you are either completely inactive or just popping in but not interacting. I understand for some of you this may just be a hobby but for those of you who want it to be a career, this is for you. If you’re serious about getting fabrication you need to act like it. If you want to be successful at it you have to make it a priority. See where you’re spending your time, that’s where your priorities are. So what are you telling the world? That you want to be a professional video gamer? A professional Netflix watcher? If I came and watched you for a day would I think you were serious about getting better at fabrication? If the answer is no that’s ok, we all start somewhere, but the time to start is now. In 2026 i’m going to drop my first how to weld course that will teach you how to become confident in welding steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. I’m going to share everything I know with you and do live Q&A calls to help you if you get stuck. I’m gonna put all my effort into helping you level up your skills but if you don’t put in just as much effort you will get nowhere. If you want to get better and are ready to commit don’t wait for my course to come out, getting better is on you with or without my support. So start now, for the rest of the year make one post per week getting help to improve or just sharing your work. I want to see that you’re committed so that I know you’re worth helping. Comment below “I’m In” And make your first post to guarantee that you’re going to be in the 10% and not the 90%

@Ethan White I'm going to try that. It would certainly be easier than building a heated box to put the machine in. I do keep the machine inside already, it just seems the display cools down far too fast once it's outside.

@Grant Pratt I have a couple 12v diesel heaters I plan to use for my new "shop" when it gets built in the spring. Funny thing is, while sitting here replying to another comment I had an idea for a temp workspace. I just need to convince the rest of the family to let me buy a small garage in a box...

HI all! Just making my intro post and dropping a question. For starters, I'm Roy, 52, and alternately enabled. My end goal is to eventually jump through all the hoops to change careers and become a Journeyman Wire Process Operator. Might seem crazy to take on that career at my age but I'm up for the challenge.
