CONS: Communication with the owner can sometimes be challenging —an example is this last weekend he took a vacation and didn’t notify me. I had a an 8 am client wait outside the shop for an hour because I didn’t have a key to open. Owner didn’t respond to my messages until hours later. Made me run behind due to having a booked morning. - I’m currently working on commission, but I’ve been debating switching to booth rent. The idea of having more control over my income and clients is appealing, but I’m a bit nervous about taking that leap. - It’s also tough to build my own clientele because the owner considers everyone who walks in a “shop client,” even when people request me personally. That makes it harder to establish my own brand and long-term client relationships. PROS: The shop’s location is great — we get a lot of walk-ins, which helps keep business steady. - On good days, I have a nice flow of clients, and it feels rewarding to stay busy doing what I enjoy. - I don’t have to worry about the behind-the-scenes stuff like booking systems, supplies, or shop maintenance — that part is taken care of, which makes my day a little easier.
