I am so happy to join this community and value your expertise. As I go through classes and complete assignments, I'm unsure how to execute this step. I am on the point of building my portfolio, but I do not know what to do with the investment I currently have. I own some single stocks and ETFs. Should I leave these securities in this account and add the strategy I am trying to implement, or forget about this account, stop contributing, and open a new account for this new strategy? FYI, this is a ROTH IRA.

@Prisca Harrison I don't quite understand your question. Is the old account a ROTH account? If it is, why can't you still implement your new strategy using the same account?

@Prisca Harrison It shouldn'thave any bearing on what you have planned for new strategy. If you like the stocks, hold them; if not sell and redistribute the funds towards new strategy. Just my thoughts. If it was me, I would use the same account. If you are not comfortable with the broker, you can always move your assets to another brokerage house.

@Nicole C. I am one to allow my investments to do what they are going to do. The market is suppose to fluctuate, so it shouldn't come as a surprise when it goes down. If your are an investor, you should be holding for the long term even if the market gets scarry at times. Like your newsletter states, after every major downturn, the market has come back even stronger than before. I will take my chances on History. I would love if you ladies would teach us how to know: after holding stocks for a year or more, what would be a clear indicator for a sell? How long should we wait to cash out or sell? How do we read trends? Thank you for considering my questions.

@Nicole C. Thank you!
I’m back
It’s been a while since I have posted, I wish every one well. I have been investing in ETF’s and have several individual stocks. Because of the war and the volatility of the stock market, how is everyone being affected by their investment. Have anyone sold some of their individual stocks and how is this done and once you have sold where does the money go? I just want to keep my ETFs and maybe two of my individual stocks.

@Carmen Ruiz I go to research tab on the Schwab platform.
IRA
I have finally decided on the stocks I wanted to invest through my Individual Retirement Accounts. Next is to setup my spreadsheets for the different accounts in order to keep track of what I have and where. Additionally, paying off two smaller credit card bills.
