I like it if my tutor adds details about what they are teaching. For example: completely explaining, the fundamentals, why and how, but also not too much. Just what is important to understand what's needed in order to learn.

I learn more by doing. I also understand that people learn a language by being immersed by it. So, changing the language while you think, speak, write helps a lot. I also started following every southern Vietnamese pages and channels I could find. The best one is this: https://youtube.com/@learnvietnamesewithkimkim?si=x9JyhB_NxkvFdg-z. Her explanation about the pronunciation and what the accents on the letters mean is easy to understand and clear! For vocabulary I just use Duolingo, because it's easy and fun. I know they don't explain anything, so Duolingo is not enough. I also speak Vietnamese with my girlfriend at home as much as possible. And slowly we can hold a small conversation, even though it's more like 2 babies are talking to each other 😂
MINI PRACTICE DAY 1: 7 DAYS CO-CREATE CHALLENGE
In the comments, share the true reason you want to learn Vietnamese. Don’t overthink it, just write honestly. This helps you connect with your motivation and lets others understand your journey. Write 2–3 sentences answering the questions. See the challenge questions here - click to view

I'm learning Vietnamese to speak with the family of my girlfriend. They do not speak Dutch or English, so we communicate with broken language or through my girlfriend. It's more fun to speak their language and also learning a new language is fun too! My girlfriend is really excited that I am learning Vietnamese, as she also want to re-learn the language.
Introduce about yourself
Let's share something about ourselves and make new friends Here are some questions that you can answer: 📌 What do you want to be called? --> Tôi tên là ... 📌 Where are you from? --> Tôi tới từ ... 📌 Why do you want to learn Vietnamese? 📌 How long have you learn Vietnamese? Then, comment on 3 others to connect.

Chào người mới. Tôi tên là Rogier. Tôi tối từ Holland. Tôi học tiếng Việt, tại vì bạn gái của tôi người Việt. My girlfriend and me can speak Dutch and English fluently, but we want to learn more about Vietnamese. I have been learning for about two months, using Duolingo, YouTube videos, Instagram reels and lessons with Trang! ☺️
