Why Retirement Feels Wrong and What To Do About It
The four things you actually lost when you retired, and the reframing that helps you put it all back together, with some suggested first steps. This is the first of a three-part series that also links to a short YouTube video on the same subject. https://www.theretirementmentor.net/blog/b/why-retirement-feels-wrong

Introduction Post
Hi everyone, I’m Patrick. I’m a young professional working in the fintech space here in NYC, and while I’m clearly on the younger side of this group, I’m building toward a goal of early financial independence by my mid 30s. I’ve joined to learn from the collective wisdom of those who have already crossed the finish line, and more specifically, what you wish you had understood about retirement while you were still in the thick of your professional careers. Nice to meet you all!

Delighted to have you here Patrick. Retirement is often seen as a finishing line or an ending - but it is more helpful to see it as a transition and an opportunity to create a new chapter where you define how you want to live the rest of your life with purpose. I didn’t realise how much of my identity was wrapped up in my work until that phase of my life ended (slightly quicker than I had planned - which was part of the issue for me, as I was under prepared).

@Patrick Stefurak Kids are the greatest blessing and at the same time the greatest drain on your financial wealth. I have 4 and wouldn’t change it for the world but there is no doubt that my financial wealth has taken a hit as a result, but my overall wealth is huge because they contribute so much to my life. Life is full of choices and I have no regrets.
