Great podcast! Its a God thing for you to be able to look back and see how God has led you here. How your fathers added to the man you're becoming. Awesome!
Pressured To Decide In The Dark
Men often struggle most with pressure, isolation, and internal confusion in hard times and seasons, leading to rushed, reactive, or avoidant decision-making rather than slowed, prayerful discernment. #1 of 8 Pressure to “be decisive” and not show weakness. Many men carry an internal script that says: - real men decide quickly - don’t hesitate - don’t ask for help Cultural pressure pushes them toward: - snap decisions - overconfidence - pretending they are sure when they are actually confused or afraid of the outcome and consequences.  Key decision-making effects: - Emotions and body signals ignored–treating feelings as a threat instead of data  - Seeking counsel is avoided ________________ “What do you do next?” “What is your best calculated, productive, fruitful way to respond?” barry/fs

There have been times I have been caught in the "paralysis of analysis". I would over analyze the issue and end up not making one or making one out of fear. In recent years, its been Godly council that has moved me past that phase. That council has helped reset that fear of making bad or wrong decisions and helped me learn to ask for Godly help. Helped relearn to listen to God's voice in making the right choice vs just making one or ignoring the choice completely. Don't underestimate how important council from Godly men is!!

Normally NIV, but I cross reference it with the KJV.

@Mitchell Van Lannen thought on the apocryphal books in the Ethiopian Bible? I have a KJV Bible that has them in the back. Been back and forth if they are God inspired or just historical.

Self Control
Proverbs 25:28 "A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls" The walls aren't built to restrict your movement or imprison you, they are built to keep the enemy out. https://youtube.com/shorts/0IRGFJY03do?si=vRThL9RWq3AmlAo8

Self control is hard for me. Especially reacting out of anger. At times, my anger flairs rather than patient, considered responses. It can go zero to yelling with little in between. Its been too long since I even considered this as an issue. Recently, I believe the Holy Spirit has been forcing my awareness to this and at times I have been able to think before reacting. With His leading im making this a priority in life. Controlling my anger is the 1st step in self control.
