A Quick Note
Hi everyone, well, I did it. I pulled the plug on the custom URL and pro plan and went to the much more affordably priced hosting. I think everything should be the same for existing members. Let me know if y'all run into any issues and I'll look into them as soon as I can. For the next few days, I'll be catching up on everything that went undone for the past week. I've been dealing with a snowball of things that had to be done without delay and it was sort of like throwing everything else I'd been working on up into the air far enough to stay up for a week or so. Now all those things are coming down and I'd better get ready to catch them, lol. Weeds are beginning to rally a mutiny in my garden, too, and rain is on the way that will give fuel to that fire. I'll be back soon!
Should not be any issues, but will let you know. Got to stay on top of those weeds or they will take over.
Another thin layer
I added a thin yellow layer to my owl painting. If you're interested in the thinking that goes on behind a painting (or at least the thinking *I'm* doing while making one, lol), I have a blog post. It also gives the color sources I used: https://www.wildozark.com/essence-of-sunlight/
Another thin layer
That was a great read, I know the exact yellow morning haze you are describing.
Showy Orchid
They're blooming now! I put the video in the course (Classroom tab), but here's a pic:
Showy Orchid
That beautiful.
Early morning
Moonlit predawn view from our porch. Way over there beyond the creek, I can hear the first whippoorwill of the season. Sorry this couldn’t pick up the sound. One will come closer soon, though and I’ll record again 🥰
Early morning
That’s truly one of my favorite sounds is listening to the early spring whippowill, I recently leaned that there is a Chuck-will's-widow bird that a lot of time is mistaken as a whipowill. • The Whip-poor-will sings a brisk, highly energetic "WHIP-poor-WILL!" over and over. • The Chuck-will's-widow has a slightly slower, less frantic call. It sounds like "chuck-WILL'S-WID-ow." However, the first "chuck" is very quiet and low-pitched, so if you are far away, you might only hear the "will's-wid-ow" part.
The unknown - now identified
Also in that first plant walk, there is one that caught my curiosity but I didn't know what it was. This one was hard to nail down an identity. But found enough clues and an answer, finally! Click on the image to see the label - tall rattlesnake root. Couldn't find much on historical or current use, but Native Americans made a poultice for rattlesnake bites from it. these first leaves look different than the later leaves will.
The unknown - now identified
Very interesting.
