Homework #1: pull one county list
This week's assignment, straight from the pinned post: 1. Pick ONE county. Your own, or any county in Florida, Texas, or Georgia — big auction states with public lists. 2. Find its surplus or excess proceeds list. Three ways: search "[county name] excess proceeds list" with site:.gov attached; go to the county clerk of court site and look under foreclosure sales; or check the tax collector / treasurer page for tax deed surplus. 3. Open it and answer three questions: When was this list generated? How many entries have both a name and an amount? What is the oldest sale date on it? Post your answers below — the county, your three answers, and anything that confused you. Confusion is data; the first list is the hardest one you will ever read. One rule: do not contact anyone on the list. That is not this assignment.

County: Gwinnett County, Georgia 1. When was the list generated? August 21, 2026. 2. How many entries have both a name and an amount? 60 entries. 3. What is the oldest sale date on the list? May 2021. The thing that confused me was figuring out how to count the actual entries because the list has several columns and the formatting was a little confusing at first. Once I understood what I was looking at, it became much easier to read. The oldest sale dates on this list go back to May 2021. I did contact the county This is what I found and my question is on SAMIYA MUSTAFA 3920 WESTBROOK RD $768,394.83 May 2025 I did call the county it is still available and no working claims. I did some digging but unfortunately I get 2 different things and in a facebook group met others trying to work this one as well. My question is what free ways can I start doing this business while unemployed not a dime to spend on software? Second question where to find a more up to date cases and which counties are the best to start with in GA? Next what does the contract look like for someone like me in CA working case files in GA?
Start here: your first 30 days
Welcome to Surplus Funds Secrets — a community run by people who recover surplus funds every day. This isn't a motivation feed. It's a working recovery business running in public, and a place to build your own. Your first 30 days, in order: 1. Classroom → Foundations 1: Where surplus funds come from. Five short lessons — the mechanism, who's entitled, why the money sits unclaimed. Start here before anything else. 2. Classroom → Foundations 2: Anatomy of a live FCAR file. One real file walked end to end: find, verify, trace, contact, close. This is what the work actually looks like. 3. Introduce yourself below. Where you're starting from, and which state you'd work first. 4. Pick one or two counties and find their surplus list. Search "[county] excess proceeds list" with site:.gov, or go straight to the clerk / tax collector site. Don't scale yet — learn one county's layout cold. 5. Post your first list pull in the feed. What you found, what confused you. Feedback here is real — process wins get spotlighted, cheerleading doesn't. Level up by showing up. Posting and engaging earns levels. At level 5, the claim-readiness checklist unlocks in the classroom — the verification gates and the full document set a real claim needs. House rules: no income or earnings claims (from anyone), no pitching or DM solicitation, education not legal advice, post your work. Drop your intro below. Have a blessed day.
